Fantastic news indeed...but I wonder if Ajax had any influence on his decision?

Think of how many "Dest" jerseys they could sell in the US now that he is fully commited. On the other hand, had he changed to the Dutch team, he was already a commodity in that market so there would not be a bump in sales there.

I did notice the handshake between Dest and Pulisic when CP entered the CL match midweek. I wonder if he lobbied hard for him to join?

WOW!

I'll eat my words...thought he would go the other way with his breakthrough at Ajax

I read Berhalter and Ernie Stewart meet with him and his Dad around the time of the Chelsea/Ajax game. Great to see us take the necessary effort to help him with his decision...we always seem to be a bit lacking in that area.

This is massive...

There had been reports he was slaloming more towards the USMNT. It didn't help Netherlands demanded an ultimatum on his decision. Time to move Cannon or Yedlin to LB and allow Dest to roam are Right flank!

I'd love to see him at rightmid. He would immediately be in our top 3, maybe 2 as an attacker...we need more savvy up field. We have guys that can handle fullback until Dest improves as a defender...but right now in the short term, Imo, turn him loose up field opposite Pulisic at Left mid...that could be devastating...also takes some of the defensive focal point off Pulisic...

I liked seeing that GB took initiative and flew across the pond to talk to Dest in person. I do hope that he took the time and reached out to other European based players while over there.

Ledezma, Llanez, Amon, Hines-Ike, Reyna, Amon, Cappis, Sabbi, first team or second team doesn't matter. It would be a great show of support and help turn the tide for GB. And a great boost for the boys abroad.

Oh look at that. Dest chooses the USMNT and is now on the bench today. That's a bit blatant with how well the Dutch received his decision.

Could be they are giving him a rest. They do travel to Chelsea in the UCL on tuesday.

I am still somewhat surprised by his decision and I think he may have been encouraged by Ajax to do this to boost shirt sales in the US.

Yea, gotta think Ajax are happier to have Dest rep USA with the exposure and almost guaranteed nats roster spot... they gotta be resting him for Tuesday.

Props should also go to Mendez, Weah, Gloster, Konrad, etc. That u20 bunch is a tight group and you have to think that played a big part in Dest' decision. Also, Captain America Pulisic with the closing sales pitch from the players side I think really made this a decision for the USA.

Saying that the U20 group is tight, should GB consider giving them a look? I already think Ledezema is ready, I am unsure if Gloster is ready but LB is a problem area. Konrad, I think mostly not ready but he runs a similar system to GB and Barca does it better.

I am curious why not Mason Toye more bodies called into pre-camp? He could've taught his tactics and then had an 11 on 11 scrimmage.

I think the Euro players mostly the same but he'll drop Boyd.

Two games in row with Dest on the bench. Hopefully he plays in the next game. If not like I said that's pretty blatant by the Dutch federation about his decision to rep the USMNT. He was a lock starter when it looked like he may change to the Dutch national team.
