Actually in the 2017-2018 season, he had 24 appearances, 13 starts, 11 subs and 6 unused subs.

a) That's last season not this season and b) that also shows he was out of the starting lineup more than he was in it.

I don't care that Williams is off the radar. Between age and injury, I think his time has passed. Guys that meet the "breaking into the first team" criteria that weren't invited, and should have been:

Holmes
CCV
Robinson
Gall
Nova

This doesn't mean that I think that Gall, for example, is better than Arriola. But we know what we have with Arriola. We don't really know what Gall may be able to provide, and he's doing enough at the club level (even if below MLS level) to warrant a look. Same thing for a guy like Holmes, who is playing at a significantly higher level than Gall, when compared to Lletget.

And some of the other I think are clearly better than guys on the roster (CCV > Omar; Robinson is about the only real LB we have; I'm not that high on Nova, but I'd take him over Zardes and Ramirez).

Lol man what are we really talking about?

This dude had 13 starts and 24 total appearances out of 30 available games in the top league in the world last season.

USA hasn't had another central midfielder play that much in a top league excluding Mckennie, Adams, Morales, since Michael Bradley 6 yrs ago.
In Bradley's final campaign at Roma, he had 5 starts and 6 subs in 13 available games. MB was out of the starting lineup more than he was in it at his very best. And no one questioned his form or ability to contribute to the national team.

Jordan Morris had played 1 game in 18 months before he was called this camp and plenty of guys on this site celebrated it.

I just ask that we have some consistency and throw out the bias in evaluating players.

Danny Williams has played and proven more at a higher level more recently than any other Center Midfielder in the pool excluding Mckennie, Adams, Morales and it's not a debate

Nice backpedal. In case you lost your way, bjelks, we're in the March friendlies thread. Williams isn't part of them because he has been hurt almost the entire season. Whatever he did last season, he's not in the frame now and won't be until he's playing regularly. My original point was that it shouldn't be taken as a given that just because he's fit, Huddersfield will give him significant minutes, based on his track record last year, his contract situation and the team's situation.

Says the guy with a blatant anti-MLS, pro-European bias who has been both wildly inconsistent and contradictory with his cries for player selections...

Lol, I'm blatant anti-inferior players. You don't mind losing and putting on poor showings with inferior players. I do. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm past going back and forth about it.

I'll never agree that MLS is a top league until they can at least consistently win in Copa Libertadores.

I always say play the best players: technically, tactically, physically.
No matter what, the league you play in, the team you play on and how you contribute are my criteria for evaluating.

I'm not here to point fingers, but you have said that players who are in leagues better than MLS and playing regularly should be prioritized for calls, but whenever I bring up Morales you say he was bad 6 yrs ago lol.

You can call me whatever you want, but 2 things I've never been have been inconsistent and contradictory.

Enjoy Houston man. Some of the best bbq and Cajun food you'll ever have.

Danny Williams should come to MLS.

@bjelks- thinking about what players could do in another system is a waste of time until Berhalter proves he will change things. We have played well, why would he change?

Or to use your logic- would you rather see Roldan or Williams if McKennie doesn't recover (or his club/agent don't think it's a good idea to risk it) by the Gold Cup.

To me Roldan has to light it up tonight or the spot is wide open. A great performance against Chile tonite will put Roldan in the starting XI until McKennie shows he is fit.

The #USMNT starting XI: Horvath; Yedlin (c), Gonzalez, Miazga, Ream; Bradley; Arriola, Roldan, Pulisic, Baird; Zardes

Ok, I can see I'll never get a Lleget start from Berhalter.

To be consistent so I don't disappoint @lilsmhike I'd have to drop D Will if he threw in the towel and came to MLS. I'd rather see him slug it out in the Championship.

If D Will was healthy and in form I'd prefer him.

I hate this lineup because it puts Miazga and Yedlin in shitty spot.
If we get our ass whooped, Greg and the armchair analysts will blame them.
If we do well, the props will go to Roldan and Bradley and the nightmare will continue.

It's like we're on a buddy system.
Miazga is there to protect Omar.
Yedlin is there to protect Bradley.
Whatever Roldan and Baird do is extra.
If Pulisic doesn't do something magical, we won't score.
Arriola is there to cover for Ream.

I'd rather see Lima and Long test themselves against some big boys.

Man, GB is really putting the screws to a few guys. Talk about a trial by fire for the D...max stress with this line up. It will be interesting to see if his system will hold up defensively with the thinner line up...and I'm guessing not great possession numbers up field will compound the pressure on the D...this is going to be real interesting...probably not in a good way for a handful of guys.
