Just a reminder to everyone freaking out over the roster . . . these are friendly matches not world cup matches. Remember also that we played a couple of minnow teams and everyone said, we now want to see what we can do vs better competition. Here is our chance, if these MLS guys can't cut the mustard here is the opportunity to weed them out because these are better teams.

Which is exactly why you would try Euro fringe guys-if you have read GB quotes its about "gelling" as a team and continuity-so with the Gold Cup coming up then qualifiers he is saying he cares about these 2 games to prepare for those upcoming. In other words no new blood.

Look the guy will be a good coach but if he doesn't have the talent to coach he will still fail. Bling loyalty to MLS will kill the Nats. We need to try new players in games like these. Thank goodness DS tried in our wasted year. Im all for Lima and frankly lleget being brought into camp. But if we are truly evaluating players then bring in Robinson, Chandler(although he maybe a cancer let GB see if he is) Johnson (even though I think he may be to old) Bring in even younger guys-Im fine if he would have brought in Durkin, but the guys he chose to bring in outside of the obvious are just not good and or will not help us in 22-these two friendlies will not help our program even if we win 10 nil-only good thing will be to see adams, McKinnie and CP on the field together-but what a waste as we could have had JS and TW -maybe gooch instead of Ariola, Robinson Chandler Fabian instead of Ream, Green/noka instead of Ariola or Ramirez

The only logical conclusion that we can draw is that Gregg is planning to integrate new players slowly. It might be post Gold Cup (Sept/Oct FIFA dates)we have a real idea of what his views of the player pool are. Do I necessarily agree with this approach, no, but it is what it is. If he's not doing it the right way the better teams will show us that his approach needs to be refined.

In which "slowly" means "glacial". He's got 3 guys that could be considered "new" on this roster.

And of those new guys, the one I am having more and more trouble with is Ramirez. What are the odds he ends up more productive for the Nats (or for their respective clubs) than Sargent? Why is even on the roster over Jozy (is Jozy injured?)? He's not young (28 in less than a month). His strike rate is unspectacular. It'd be shocking to me if he played his way into the squad in '22 or that he'd even be a key contributor to the Gold Cup this summer.

Jozy is injured. Sargent more than likely is going to the the u20 WC. So I get bringing in Ramirez who might be at the Gold Cup.

Haji, yes. He's not even on the bench right now for Schalke. Nova should have been called in. The forward group for these friendlies is dreadful, and even though I personally don't rate Nova all that highly, he's a regular starter in a better league than any of the forwards on the GB call in.

I'm not sure that Sargent potentially playing in the U20 WC would mean he shouldn't be called in for these friendlies.

I'd take Wood over anyone on this roster, but he is also struggling mightily right now.

I'm not saying Sargent shouldn't have been called in, but Berhalter already statedvearlier this month that there is little crossover of players from the current u20 pool. Which meant to me that both Weah and Sargent are probably going to the u20 WC. Which makes sense with us soccer prioritizing youth tournaments especially this u20 WC.

So I understand why both Sargent and Weah are not on this current roster. Berhalter is giving time to players who he thinks will potentially be on the Gold cup roster. I can understand his reasoning. Ramos has built up the relationships with teams in Europe. It's highly likely Weah and Sargent will get the nod to go to the WC. Neither are considered core contributors for their respective clubs. But you never know.

And then you got Berhalter not even try to call up Folarin Balogun

US Soccer is a joke

"It's just a slice in time" says coach Gregg.

I will say, as much as it sucks worrying about how trash Bradley will play this is the first time in a very long time that the entire pool and camps are about breaking the other team down offensively. Always it was about packing in as many legs as we could and running hard to close down and break on the counter. We can all argue about Bradley defensively being awful, but Gregg isn't even thinking about that. It's all about the attack and how to score more goals.

And I can't be mad about that. There I found a silver lining regardless of players called, it's the types of players called that excite me for the future. I don't think he realizes how much everyone hates Omar Gonzalez.

@hamsamwich with that being said, there's not one winger or forward on the roster that I would intentionally pay to see lol. I'm expecting 2 convincing losses. Unless Mckennie, Adams, CP, Brooks, Steffen are Heroically World Class.

If GB insists on playing Bradley centrally and moving someone to right back with instructions to play like Lina did last camp, it's got to be McKennie in that role. Hes been playing outside for Schalke a lot lately, and Adams' strength isn't putting in crosses.
