I understand positional responsibility/ roles and I also understand depth.
A defensive midfielder should be good at defending the midfield first and foremost.
And just because I'm calling for someone, doesn't mean I want to see them start.
We have 23 spots. They all matter.
What is your depth chart of defensive mids today after Mckennie and Adams?[/quote

There really is no depth at the 6, not to play against top level and really feel confident. The hope is that we would develop someone.....i wish EPB had gotten more looks at DM and Goslin or Durkin would make a move to Europe. But since no one has stepped up i guess were stuck with D Will and A Morales as our best bets. D Will is a walking injury and A Morales just flat out hasnt performed. At one time Fr***y A** had potential but never amounted to anything, i put A Morales in that same boat.[/quote]

That's fine, Morales doesn't have to be Kante, Casemeiro, Vidal level to be significantly better than Trapp or MLS 31 yr old Bradley and that's my whole pt.

Roster is out. People are going to bitch. Have at it:

GK: Steffen, Horvath, Johnson

D: Yedlin, Lima, Lovitz, Ream, Gonzales, Long, Brooks, Miazga

M: Bradley, Adams, Mckennie, Roldan, Trapp, Lletget

F: Morris, Zardes, Ramirez, Arriola, Pulisic, Lewis, Baird

Looks likely Sargent and Weah are u20 players.

I do have to question not calling Holmes in, but calling Ream. Upper tier of the Championship and relegation fodder of the Prem, you're basically talking same level. There's nothing new we're going to see from Bradley, Roldan, etc. to warrant not calling Holmes. Ream is not a long term option and really not even a good short term one. Carter-Vickers has been starting at Swansea, where is he? Friendlies are the time to experiment, you're not going to know if a guy fits your system if you don't try.

Honestly, Sargent and Weah should probably be with the youth teams. Personally, I would have thought that Weah might have gotten a look (hes certainly done enough to warrant consideration), but Sargent should definitely be with the youth teams.

Not sold on Baird. Personally I didn't think he looked good last time around. Also, I think Dwyer should be getting more attention. More so than Ramirez.

I have the feeling Ream might be put into that LB spot that Lovitz played last friendlies

Never really been a big fan of Dwyer. Not saying he couldn't add something. I like Ramirez because he is a more athletic Wondo type of striker.

Looks like a lot of the younger guys will be in camp with the U-23s...

Expect Sargent, Weah and other youngsters such as Cameron Carter-Vickers, Djordje Mihailovic, Erik Plamer-Brown and Antonee Robinson to play for the #usmnt U-23s instead. Games vs. Egypt and the Netherlands reportedly in the works.

Maybe. I hate the idea that these are our last friendlies before we need to put together a team for the Gold Cup, and we're not bringing in anyone new. That's a bad message to send to guys I think, that form doesn't matter as much as if you've been picked before. I will note that it looks like the U-23s are having friendlies too, so that's where a lot of the younger guys like Carter-Vickers may go.

I think Berhalter probably has about 70 to 80 percent of the Gold Cup roster set already.

I completely agree.
And I'm selling my fucking tickets for the Houston game.
This is a waste of an opportunity to evaluate in form players Euro and South American players.
This is our last set of friendlies before Gold Cup and GB is supposed to be changing the culture and exciting the fans. It's actually more of the old guard bullshit.
We should expect the same shitty performances and results.
I hope we get bounced out of GC early so Everybody can get fired and we can start over again.
I feel sorry for CP, Mckennie, Adams, Brooks, Steffen, Yedlin, they don't deserve this shit.

Out of all of these, who do you think is going to start? None of these are really good options, and I am kind of suppressed to not see Bobby Wood.

Wood has been on the bench a lot recently and he hasn't been scoring.

A clear indication that playing time and form are important to player selections...

Wait, we agree on something? I wouldn't call Sonora yet, but if he's calling Lewis (who isn't a starter), Sonora should consider himself snubbed too. Holmes is the worst snub for me though.
