Hopefully he remains healthy and can get a run in both the March friendlies. Many on these boards believe he could be a regular starter for the USMNT, but the only way to know for sure is to see him and how his style gels with the core of the team (Pulisic, Adams, McKennie).
IMO he's still likely only a transitional player destined to become a back-up once Ledezma and/or Mendez start getting 1st team minutes @ CM, or Reyna/Weah at the wide attacking positions. However with his ability to cover multiple positions and his ability to play physically when necessary will still be a nice option to have when playing some of our opponents in CONCACAF.

My thoughts on Holmes' 40mins against West Brom
He's not a winger and looks very uncomfortable there
Doesn't know when and where to arrive in the box on crosses
Doesn't know when to tuck in or press on defense
Bad give aways in bad spots
Wasted Derby's best chance of the game being too casual on a 1 touch opportunity
He tried to turn under pressure in bad areas and passed back with no pressure in good areas
I believe in this kid but that was awful
At his worst I still rather see him than a Roldan or Lletget

I thought Holmes paired well with Sargent when they had the chance. Our offense looked lively. This is also why I am against playing players out of their club position, unless it is an emergency situation.

Duane Holmes is set to end his two-and-a-half year stay at Derby County with an imminent move to Huddersfield Town as first revealed by Football Insider, reports Ryan Conway.
Derby and Holmes had discussed a new contract earlier in the season, with the USA international's current deal set to expire in the summer, but both parties could not agree terms. Holmes was told he was free to explore his options in January.
It is believed Holmes was also frustrated at not being played down the middle often enough, instead being deployed out wide.
The midfielder was signed on the 2018 deadline day from Scunthorpe United.

Article on SBI has Roony saying the Holmes doesn't put enough effort in training. This maybe a byproduct of not being able to come to terms the last negotiations, but if not than it's a disturbing thought that I wouldn't want around all the young players in a USMNT Camp.
