Should U.S. Soccer bring back the U.S. Cup?
Absolutely. It would be far more competitive than the CONCACAF Nations League.
No. The international calendar is already congested.
Not sure.

Holmes subbed off due to injury and Derby get a goal back right before half no away goals so they'd need 2 goals to win outright

Sucks, I still hope Derby wins, but I don't think we're seeing Duane on the Gold Cup roster at this rate.

What a comeback by Derby. Hope Duane is fit for the playoff final.

A tremendous second leg. 4 goals in the second half. Lampard leads Derby to Wembley against Villa.

Bielsa looked distraught on the sideline

To me this is the most baffling decision Berhalter has made in his time... makes no sense to me how he hasn't been in all the camps and given significant opportunities in the midfield 3.

Unforunately, until we get another non-MLS manager you will see this. The European player has to be that much better statistically to get a look over their MLS counterparts. Guys like Pulisic, Adams, and McKennie are miles ahead of any MLS player at their position that they are locks.
Other than that the other Euro-based players aren't seen as that much better despite playing in a far more difficult league. So unforunately, MLS players will get the nod.

What European Leagues are far more difficult than MLS where there are actually Americans playing (not on youth teams or in the reserves, actually playing for the first team) who are getting snubbed?

Provide concrete examples of player and league.

Holmes, yes. Morales was... but he has gotten called in and recognized. Outside of that... there really aren't any who (up to this point) really fit that criteria, and are clearly better or have an argument to be better than what has been produced thus far.

This isn't me defending MLS or saying its on par with the Premier League (because its not). Rather, trying to point out that our pool hasn't exactly been very good in recent years. Filled with lots of youth prospects with potential? Yes. Filled with full-blown professional players playing consistently in some of the best leagues in the world? No.

In Couva, Arena left out a healthy and in form Fabian, Timmy, Miazga, Mckennie, Adams, Danny Williams, Nova, Morales.
That's 9 players.

Also a youth player from Germany outplayed his mls and usmnt vet counterparts.

I apologize, I should have been more specific but since JK got fired. The Euro based player has been snubbed for MLS players. Right now we are going through a transitional period where we don't have many players playing in top leagues but even that said, we aren't fighting for the dual national like we did with JK.

I say far more because until MLS is a threat on their continent you cannot say they are on par with most Euro leagues. You can say MLS is on par with this league or that league but our best MLS clubs can't win the continental championship. So we really can't say the MLS is anywhere near leagues that have been around for awhile.
We can say our DPs are as good or better than most players in the Championship but that is to be expected. Other than those players and some TAM players, MLS rosters are not that great.

But your critique of my post is fair.

Anyways. A bit over the continued diatribes about MLS versus Euro players. I hope Holmes is called in. He is playing lights out as a CAM right now.
