Defensive mids aren't exactly known for their ability to attack or be involved in the attack. Thats why they are defensive mids.

Dude that was my whole point. There is no attack if you don't have defensive mids to win balls and play them forward. Trying to help @blaise understand no team has all attacking players. That's ridiculous.

Defensive mids are like BASF - they don't make things, they make them better.

The best purchase Chelsea ever made was to buy Claude Makele from Real Madrid...and Leicester don't win the league without Kante. Gattuso allowed the Milan teams to play more freely.

Apparently Lothar Matteus thinks TA is really good.

As we get closer to the weekend it's impressive that's it's basically a given that Tyler Adams will start AND play well. The confidence and swagger is impressive, (McKennie as well) - it's been since Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey we had a few super confident players on the field.

I'm telling you Adams is probably the most important player for the USMNT going forward. Not Pulisic. I really believe it's a good thing for Pulisic who doesn't really want the spotlight on him.

Well, maybe thats an overstatement. Him and Mckeinne will be very important, but definitely not as important as Pulisic, at least at the moment.

Nope. Not an overstatement at all. If I'm selecting my team.... Adams is the first player I'm selecting. Pulisic is very talented who has yet to really prove himself on a consistent basis.

Don't get me wrong Adams is extremely talented, but you can't really say Adams is better than Pulisic when he get transferred to Chelsea for the most amount of money spent on an American soccer player in HISTORY, while Adams has just gained his starting spot on a 3rd place Bundesliga team.

I mean Countinho went for all that money but is he really the second best Brazilian?

It's hard to say where Pulisic is as a USA fan because he hasn't played much for USA the last 18 months. Put that together with his club situation and we all hope it's good next year but right now he isn't playing much. Importance does not equal talent necessarily. I'd like to make Adams the captain but I think there are a few players technically better at soccer. But the confidence Adams has right now is at another level. He and McKennie give me hope we could actually compete with the best because we finally have a real midfield pairing. These two players really hate to lose.

Id also like to ask where Pulisic would play positionally. Would he best playing as a CAM or a winger?

Pulisic has said before he wants to play under a striker. No one really knows what his best attacking position is. Me I personally believe his best position is as an inverted winger on the left. He is basically the new Donovan in the sense he can play any attacking position. I am intrigued in this attacking lineup:

--Nova--
Pulisic-Mihailovic-Morris

I thought Miha looked promising and had good ideas, but not impressive in his execution and outcomes against very low level competition. He also struggled with physical challenges which will only get worse against more athletic teams.

I'm curious, what has he shown to prevent Holmes from getting an opportunity in the same attacking mid role?

And Morris has a heavy first touch, is not a clever dribbler or pssser and I've never seen him defend a quality winger moving backwards or beat a quality winger 1v1. Morris fans tell me he's fast but he wouldn't get behind any wings for Eng, Brasil or France.
I'm sorry I don't see it.

Sorry you don't see it. Maybe you should watch more. Keep on hating on MLS players. I'm sure Holmes will get a chance. And what I can gather about you.... is that you don't watch many MLS games. I don't even know if you can accurately rate any player no matter what the league is.

I've followed Mihailovic since his youth championship days with the Fire and I can say without a doubt he plays better the better players that are around him. I'd like to see what he could do with our A team because he's intelligent. I think we all realize that the USA players aren't yet at world championship caliber but just shitting on them is doing the quality of many of these players a disservice. It's a new era.
