🗨️ Ralf #Rangnick: "We're convinced that Tyler is in the right position to strengthen our central midfield. We're really pleased that he's moving here and we're certain that he'll make the next step in his development in the #Bundesliga."

This is great. Naturally, we sometimes overhype our MLS players but I think Adams is the real deal. He has the makings of a Bundesliga player. I think a loan next season might be best though. I'm not sure he's ready to contribute right away to a team that is third in the Bundesliga. But I haven't really seen Leipzig play in a while, so I don't know. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Adams will see Bundesliga minutes, he will figure it out. The good thing about this move is that RB Leipzig plays a more intense game than the RBNY does. Playing in tight spaces is what he needs to improve on- and there's no better place than Germany to work on it. Having Marsch as one of his coaches will really help too.

No one is saying he's Kante (we've never had a player at that level before), and they are completely different types of DMs anyway, so no idea why you're bringing him up.

Adams is very athletic, a great ball-winner, and a decent dribbler (very good by American standards). I've seen him dish out some really nice long balls as well (one against the Crew in the playoffs if you'll recall). Most importantly, he seems to have a really strong competitive drive, and that's what gets you to the highest
level. He isn't going to score goals for you, but that's not too big a flaw for a #6. I haven't been this excited about an MLS player since Yedlin.

I think based on what we've seen from MLS players over the years, Adams has the potential to be an important player for a lower or even mid-table Bundesliga team. Our national team has very few players at that level, so he would be a huge asset. I think Leipzig is going to be a stretch but who knows.

Am I being unreasonable?

I dunno. I can see the comparison to a Kante-like DM. Very athletic with a ridiculous engine that allows him to win balls box-to-box and sideline to sideline. Neither would be considered overly technical players.

And before we decide that Adams can't be Kante or that Adams ceiling is mid to lower level Bundes, recall that Kante wasn't playing in the Prem until he was 24 (having been in the Ligue 2 and lower prior to that), and that was for a team expected to be in a relegation fight. I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that Adams is much more advanced than Kante was at the same age.

It seems Leipzig are pretty high about him. I won't be surprised if he is getting significant minutes this season. I think he definitely has Naby Keita traits as well as some Kanye traits. He is only 19. I'm very excited about him.

He's a future usmnt captain in my opinion. A true leader not a hired gun like Pulisic.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
