Will Pulisic play this time? It would be nice to see him playing against England (for obvious reasons), leading our press. The scouts will be out.

At this point, considering the lack of a full-time manager, I wouldn't be surprised if players like Pulisic, McKennie, Brooks, and even Adams & Miazga were to choose not to play in the November friendlies. Dave S. is a lame duck, so it's not like they need to impress him....and all 5 have to be considered given call-ups whenever a new manager gets called. Why should they risk potential injury for meaningless games & manager.

This isn't likely to be popular with fans, but this is also about these players careers.

Everyone else still has something to prove. They need to show that they have a part to play for the USMNT, and the only way to do that is to have international games.

It's a bad precedent to have players able to choose not to accept a call up.

Maybe so but equally bad is a federation that doesn't seem to want to demonstrate a commitment to winning and turning the program around by not hiring a coach and establishing a system. You could hardly blame the players for not wanting to endanger their careers for incompetence.

We're gonna have a new coach really really soon, I just don't want these people to think they can ditch again.

Not really seeing much to complain about with the preliminary roster.

Agreed. But don't worry - people will find something....

I'll complain about the exclusion of Alfredo Morales, Joel Sonora, and EPB.
I still don't believe Trapp and Delgado are cut out for this level.
I'm very blah about Nagbe, but there's no need for him, Acosta, and Delgado all on the same roster especially.
I hope to see Mckennie and Adams in a double pivot 6 and Pulisic on the wing, but we all know Sarachan will force Trapp on the field.
I'm interested in Weah as a false 10.

Always coming through, bjelks, complaining about not including a guy who is starting for a team in a massive tailspin (Morales, 4 league games he's started for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the last month, they've lost by a combined 15-1), a sub for a mediocre Argentine team (Sonora) and a guy who just cracked the lineup last weekend in the Eredivisie (EPB).

With Adams and Mckinnie, what's the point in Morales?

Likewise, Miazga, Brooks, and CCV are ahead of EPB, and Long and Zimmerman have been solid. Not calling in EPB is a marginal issue at best.

Sonora is getting spotty minutes for a mid-table team in Argentina. How's that meriting a call up?

Though I will say at least EPB cracked the lineup (as did Holmes who now may need to wait until March). Club form/favor clearly doesn't matter in these selections though. Hopefully it will with the new manager.

Well clearly Morales and Sonora were not called in because, as bjelks has pointed out on more than one occasion, the USSF is racist against players of Hispanic origin.

Good points, and it makes sense. Some people don't respond well to logic though.

Apparently, many people feel that in order to "merit" a spot on the national team the only requirements are being young, playing on a youth/reserve team somewhere in Europe, have little to no actual first team professional experience, and have some decent highlights on a random twitter feed or youtube account.

Lol good one, How do you skip the rest of the 6/8 depth chart? Trapp, Delgado, Acosta, Nagbe, take your pick could easily be left off Morales.

Long and Zimmerman blah. How old are they? Who is bidding for them?

Sonora again is a young player playing at a higher level than MLS and was the most technical player on his U-20 team. Spotty eh, 20-30 mins a game, wouldn't say that's insignificant, but we do value technical creative types.
