bjelks is calling for a 27 yr old LB to not be included since he is too old and is proposing to replace that LB with a 28 yr old CM. Sure... makes sense.

Highly likely Bradley starts. McKennie was injured again today.

Bobby Wood with two goals today. Looks to be rounding back into form. Great sign for the USMNT

@lilshmike A 28 yr old CM that plays in a top 3 league in the world compared to a 27 yr old left back that plays in a 3rd tier league. You are laughable and it's ppl making decisions that think like you is the reason no one outside of America respects American soccer.
It's that same mls arrogance that is the reason we didn't qualify.

bjelks, you advocate for Lynden Gooch who is literally in a third tier league.

Now hold on there, db707. Gooch may play in a 3rd tier league, but he plays in Europe! That's different, because it clearly demonstrates his superior mentality. Hes more hungry and desires to push himself harder than his MLS counterparts.

MLS players will always be called in, might as well stop worrrying about it. Does George Bello count for or against?

Gall with another goal for Malmo today. He now has 10 goals and 4 assists on the year. But he still can't get a USMNT call up?

Lynden Gooch is arguably the best player on a team that has a Premier league profile and history that is currently 3rd tier and he offers a unique skill set and plays a position that we're lacking. He's also still a young player at 22 with premier league experience and still has premiere league ambition.

Now if we want to say his competition isn't good enough to qualify for national team, that's fine. But we need to consider if Arriola is the alternative for reserve right wing, how intimidated, Conservative, out of sorts he looked against Brasil and if Gooch would offer more.
I'm not saying Gooch is the level of the Brasilian wings, but I do think he's not going to send free crosses in the stands, back pass in 1v1 situations, and back off duals the way Arriola does against big teams.
At the very least, I do think Gooch isn't as intimidated and conservative as player like Arriola who's ceiling is career MLS.
A big part of the reason, is because hes in a more competitive, cut throat environment and more accustomed to playing under pressure and these ceiling mls guys aren't.

Now I'm not against MLS guys, But im def against 25+ mls guys who are at their career ceiling or decline.
These guys don't have the quality or mental Fortitude to push the program to be better.

Bello obviously at 16 has a much higher ceiling than MLS. You

If you're calling for Gooch based on your criteria, then you should be calling for Holmes and Ariyibi as well.

And if being 25+ in MLS is unacceptable, but being 28+ in Europe is alright, then you should be calling for guys like Ream and Lichaj as well.

I mean, at least try to be consistently nonsensical here...

Only MLS guys that should be looked at are the young kids - Llanez, Effrain, Carleton (the next break shea), and the Bello kid. These kids know how to posses the ball and attack.

Any MLS players in their mid twenties with no offers to play in Europe shouldn't be anywhere near the national team. Most these players are in the generation of backwards passing with no 1 vs 1 ability.

@bjelks

LOL, Arriola blasting that cross into the stands vs Brazil... Dude sucks

Gooch is younger than Holmes and Ariyibi, has played in the premier league within the last 2 yrs, and plays for a bigger club, but I'd like to see either of them before Arriola or even Fafa. At least we know that Arriola isn't good enough. There is no rule against rotating players until you find the best one. That's an American thing, keeping players proven to fail, hoping they'll get better.

Reem is in the premier league. He's earned a call up over Long, Sweat, or CCV. And yes Reem has played left back. Even as a practice player, he has a much better resume.

And I don't rate Lichaj over Moore who is 8 yrs younger and played games in La Liga last yr. Lichaj is past his prime and has never played in top league.

If the next coach calls in Trapp instead of Alfredo Morales who plays week in and out in Bundesliga were in trouble again...
