Because that 2nd person doesn't really matter. In reality they probably wouldn't play. We had 1 CM and 1 winger withdraw. We added 1 winger back (a like for like swap) and no CM. They are clearly looking at certain positions. And one they dont seem to be looking at is CM. We are pretty set in that position. It makes complete and total sense...

...and Gall wasn't called in because he hasn't done enough yet to warrant a spot. A few appearances off the bench in the swedish league isn't good enough. As noted, if he continues to get minutes, breaks in a starting spot, and consistently produces goals/assists, then he should be brought in. Until then, hes on the outside looking in.

@hamm Before we get to Fafa, we don't have a pure 10# on the roster outside of J. Green who I doubt will be utilized there. We have 0 right winger and Weah is a striker. We have a Bundesliga starter at 6 that the federation ignores. We have a 27 yr old mls defender that no one has heard of.
And when we watch the game, we're gonna say we have no creative play because, slow and sloppy 6s and Mckennie is doing too much lol.

Fafa is the least of my concerns. This is insanity.

And Gall isn't playing enough but we don't even have a pure right wing on the roster, they're going to put a CM there then commentators are gonna say we have no width lol.

If this was a year and a half ago @bjelks and @blaise you guys would say someone playing for FC st. Pauli in the 2bund had to be called up.... now that he plays for Union- he shouldn't be called in??? Same player. Dual national, chose USA. Give him a run out we need wingers.

Time to rework the team with no Tyler Adams. McKennie next to Bradley vs Colombia seems like an inevitability now. I see Green ahead of those two in a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 whichever Sarachan prefers.
As we've seen, there is no logic to these guys...

In their eyes, a player who occasionally plays on a mid to lower level European team is by default better than anyone in MLS simply because the player is in Europe.

@bjelks

A few weeks ago you made the claim that Gall was one of the best players in the USMNT pool - independent of how much he was/was not playing at Malmo. What changed?

@lilshmike there is no logic when you're blinded by your love for mls that has run the national program into the ground lol. Good European players literally come to Mls for an easy payday into retirement, that's what the world thinks of mls. Even formerly good US players come to mls after failing in Europe.

There is no question that the Level of play in Bundesliga and the top half of Bundesliga 2 is more technical and competitive than mls. There is no question that players in those leagues are individually better. There's not one player respected outsider of USA that would say they aspire to play in mls unless it was to retire. If you want to pick on Gall fine, but his team just beat Beşiktaş in Europa league and there's not a team in mls that can bea Beşiktaş.

It's easy to talk about playing regularly when you're comparing a team competing for Europa league title with mls, you can't compare the pressure. I don't understand how every time someone recommends a player not playing in mls, the argument to not call him because he's not playing on a champs league squad playing every week. I'm sorry that's bs and that has nothing to do with a player's ability and skill set. Apples and oranges. I'll tell you the gap between mls and Europa league, Scandinavian players, low level German league players. The mid and bottom tier guys aren't losing to Trinidad.

Players like Gall, Sabbi, Gooch, Gyau are all better footballers than Trapp, Acosta, Delagado, Roldan and at this stage yes Bradley. We historically have had shitty attacking mid, winger creative types and you continue to protest giving these guys a shot. It's insane. And if there is a close decision between players, we should always pick the more ambitious player with more upside not the 25+ mls guy that has plateaued.

I said Gall isn't playing enough in sarcasm. If we can call a 27 yr old mls left back, we can call a 23 yr old sometime winger which we're short on that plays Europa league. There's no logic in that

Hahaha theres no blind love of anything. Only consistency in noting that players should be evaluated evenly and earn the privilege to be called in.

Who cares if someone is on a team competing in Europa League. If they dont play, they shouldn't be called in. Pretty simple.

And I dont recall ever protesting that we give any guys a shot? Certainly not any of the ones you mentioned. Only thing I've said is that certain players dont deserve it, Bradley is unfortunately still one of our best CMs, and that Trapp serves a purpose and is better than people give him credit. Please, I challenge you to look through the threads and back up that claim you just made about my sanity...

@lilshmike so you don't care how good players are (ability), fit for the team (what is needed), and level they are playing at (competitive environment) as long as they are regular in mls.
This is absolutely insane.

How can you evenly evaluate the playing time of someone playing in mls with someone playing in Europa league. That's also insane. You're sending a message to players that they will be rewarded for getting playing time playing in a lesser league. But if they play in anything but top flight in Europe, they aren't good enough. I'm sorry, that makes no sense.

Will Trash is an embarrassment and a liability every game and is continues to be gifted not only call ups but starts. Alfredo Morales starts in a league literally 2 levels above Trash's and can't even make the bench, so stop saying you're evaluating players evenly.
Canouse is 2 yrs younger and can do everything Trapp can do better and still hasn't made camp.

And I have to hear why Bradley is still one of the best CMs, because he's not playing in the most competitive environment, he's not any more athletic, not any more skilled, especially not going to push these younger more talented guys. Is he going to teach them to fight the way he did in qualification or the way he did when he stepped down 2 levels for an easy payday in mls?

Calling in Bradley is only stunting the development of younger more talented players?

Read the Usa prospects twitter today

Sebastian Soto with 10 goals in 9 games (U-19)
Llanez set to sign with Wolfsburg
Wondering who swoops up Effrain Alvarez

Also heard Mckinnie is out hurt! I would give one of these youngsters a run as a replacement.

McKennie scored and then got hurt. One step closer to the dream team of Bradley and Trapp in midfield. Bobby Wood scored twice today.

Alfredo Morales starts in Bundesliga and can't get called in over 3 mls cms and a 30 yr old mls left back no one has heard of.

There's not a right wing on the team and there's one #10 type in Green.

We can't even get the no brainers right.

Morales is not a left back, Sweat being called up has nothing to do with Morales. Sweat also just turned 27 on September 4. bjelks math is as bad as bjelks logic.

Morales can play left back. So can Shaq Moore. Lol, I mean Sarachan plays everybody else out of position. I was exaggerating when I called Sweat 30, but truth be told, he's not getting any faster, quicker, or more skilled so it doesn't matter and he'll never be good enough to be a reserve in Bundesliga or La Liga, but hey he looks the part, played in college and mls, so why not lol?

I mean some tool that got their girl taken by a better athlete and wants to promote mls, because it's the American way, is going to argue he should have a shot because he tries hard and is good at back passing lol.

I'm on board with the MLS youngsters because they have better attacking skills than the current MLS national team players (Bradley, Trapp, and everyone else in their age bracket)
