I want Novakovich to start. I wouldn't mind playing Yedlin at RM with Lichaj at RB. Also wouldn't mind trying Adams on the wing or at LB. I'd like to see Green move central behind the ST.
What I want to see:
-Nova-
Weah-Green-Yedlin
McKennie-Acosta/Trapp
Adams-Parker-Miazga-Lichaj
-Steffen-
I wouldn't mind playing Adams at LM and keeping Robinson at LB
-- Nova --Weah
-Green
-
Robinson- McKennie-Adams -Yedlin
-
Parker--MM--CCV
`````````Steffan
Would like to see
Aaron Long get some mins
Sebastian L to get some time centrally
Shaq Moore to get some mins
I am not high on CCV I do not think he has shown well past few games but we need to get him some mins to see where he is at.
Lletget is injured, and now Arriola's been released from camp. So we're down to 22 players and Sarachan's talking about 4-6 starting lineup changes.
Well I would love to see Nova and Weah up too together. And I would prefer to see a 3-5-2 with the current roster.
Highlight starts at 25 seconds in. I disagree on Robinson being totally out of position. The only thing he could have done was be a couple steps further back, or not stepped in when he did. He got beat because he stepped towards Costa, which caused him to have a half step delay in turning to get down the line - meanwhile, Costa's first touch was down the line, enabling him to use his pace to get past Robinson. Costa is also MUCH faster, and again, not many players in the world are fast enough to keep up with him. Robinson was not out of position. Not in the least.
Look at the run Miazga took. Even though Costa got that cross off, had Miazga been where he should have been (which was tracking Firmino and not running to the near post), he likely would have been able to disrupt/intercept that cross. Again, both Miazga and Robinson could have done better, but Robinson mainly got beat due to Costa's pace. Miazga on the other hand, completely left his man in the box when it was clear that a cross was eminent.
I think everything you described in the first paragraph qualifies as Robinson being out of position.
Dude fix your website, stupid amazon ad popping up !
I secretly think your B Sciaretta or his boy
Lol. I don't have anything to do with this website. I don't know who runs it but I assume it's Kenya Brown since he's the by-line on just about every article.
Again, I disagree. What I described was Robinson committing too early to challenging/pressuring Costa.
Had he possibly taken a different angle (ie not stepping directly to him and angling his run slightly towards the corner flag), or not committed as early (ie not taking the last step or two towards him and apply too much pressure), MAYBE he would've had a shot at preventing the cross. Even if he took a different angle, Costa could have just as easily cut inside and gotten around him that way.
IMO thats not a positioning issue, because when the ball was initially played to Costa, Robinson was more or less in the right position to defend him. The error was that Robinson committed to pressuring Costa before Costa received the ball, and Costa was able to get a half-step head start on him down the line as a result of it. Again, not many players in the world can keep up with that pace. I highly doubt there was much that could have been done to prevent the eventual cross from Costa once he had the ball at his feet with about 40 yards in front of him to pick up speed. Crosses happen every game. You can't expect to stop every one, and other players need to do their job to prevent goals once the ball is whipped into the box.
Miazga on the other hand, regardless of what he did throughout the game, very clearly left his man unmarked in the box. The blame doesn't entirely fall at his feet, both he and Robinson made errors. However, IMO Miazga's was ultimately more costly and was the main contributing factor for the ease with which Firmino finished.
Nice letter by Charlie Davies to the new generation. Didn't realize he was at the 1997 game at Foxboro (as was I, behind the goal where Keller kicked it off Hermosillo's head into his own net in the 1st minute). https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2018/09/10/1...
That's pretty much my XI as well, 2tone. Could make good arguments for Lichaj over CCV though.
The strength of this team is through the spine. I believe Mckennie, Adams, Brooks, Miazga can hold their own against anybody in the world, but they need competent wing play and a technical striker with a good work rate.
Obviously, Brooks and Pulisic are out this game. But, I think our best formation is 4-2-3-1.
We have a lot of quality 8s and 6s that are interchangeable and leading the way 2 young dynamos that can be world class at 6 or 8. This allows the 3 mids and striker to press and the 2 6s to roam break up attacks, start counters and help out everybody.
I'll go on a limb and say it. Adams and Mckennie are the best ATHLETES we've ever had in the middle of the park and we don't know what to do with them lol. Here's my 11 for tonight.
I'm not a Zardes fan at all, but at least he can press, get behind and win 50/50s.
Ideally, you would want purer wings that are comfortable running at defenders, and cutting in, any defender no matter the name and team.
Pulisic, Saief, Amon, Gall, Brooks Lennon, Gooch, possess these qualities.
Also backup 6/8s are D will, Morales, Stanko in my opinion.
Acosta should get a start tonight. I'd play him ahead of McKennie and Adams in a 3-5-2.
Bigger is the backline and should Robinson get a chance to play again? I would put him in.
Novakovich should start along with Weah, I would like to see that.
No wingers and no creative midfielders, I think we HAVE TO use 3 in back and 2 wingbacks.
That's what happens with MLS national team coaches, they just want to load 3 Defensive midfielders and put forwards as wingers.
We won't see any creative/attacking style until we get a real coach
We could def play J Green at attacking mid and Weah and Zardes at wing, or we could just play 5 backs and 4 holding mids and try to win on an own goal. Lol, Sarachan is such a clown.
