He was loaned out to the USL, then went to lower divisions in Sweden, before only now, at age 23, playing for a team somewhat comparable to the MLS. In what way is that not washing out?

Well sometimes it takes longer for a player to develop or for them to "get it". Sometimes, when they do, they can take off..Jamie Vardy comes to mind.

And quite frankly, having gone the route he has, I seriously doubt he will take things for granted.

I am not advocating we call him up, only do not dismiss him entirely and give him some credit for not giving up.

I haven't seen the guy so I have no explanation for why he couldn't get a better offer than mls after leading Sweden in scoring. Maybe he scored a lot of tap ins, maybe the defending was bad, I can't tell you. What I can say that I've seen from Gall that translates is his pace, ability to take players on, get behind, shoot accurately from range, and pick passes in the box.

Charlie Davies did well and was able to parlay his time in Sweden into a French Deal, because of his world class athleticism, strength, pace. Maybe Eriksson was limited physically or in skill set, I can't say, but thanks for the history lesson.
Where have you watched Gall? What channel broadcasts Allsvenskan games? Please tell me, I'd love to know.

Surely since you've watched him play, you have an understanding of the quality and players of the league, no?

I don't think that anyone is dismissing him entirely. However, some people on the board who have legitimately never watched the kid other than in a few select highlights claim that he is one of our best players.

If he takes off, great. We all want to see that. Many, including myself, have said that we wish for that to happen but we need time to assess his ability. If he continues to produce, he has earned it. Until then, he is still on the outside looking in.

However, making claims that he is one of the best players in our pool and better than anyone in MLS is ignorant. That is what most of these comments about Gall are directed at. That, and calling out the idiotic, inconsistent, contradicting, ignorant, and flat out factually incorrect statements of some on the boards...

So are you telling us that you, in addition to bjelks, watch/stream full Allsvenskan league soccer matches online?

I love watching the Armenian Premier League on sites like these, great stuff. Have to support my boy Cesar Romero. He plays for 1st place Alashkert, and they have had CL qualifiers as well as Europa League. I'm thinking he should get a call up as well. Definitely an overlooked talent.

Malmo is a watchable team if you want to find them. There's also nothing wrong with the level of the Swedish league mentally. I'd say it's a great place for Romain Gall who has done well to earn that move to Malmo in the first place coming from a lesser team in sweden. Let's just let the kid play few games (start the games) first.

As far as MLS players they are doing just fine and are not the problem here either. They need recognition and appearances to move to bigger clubs depending on who they are not everyone has that euro passport or option (unlike Gall who was born in France). Nobody should be overlooked whether they play in USA or Sweden or wherever- and they won't and aren't. The point is we have time and everyone should enjoy the process.

USA soccer did a good job scheduling Brazil, Mexico with the other class teams to follow. Enjoy the game because no matter who we called up Brazil will have an overwhelming edge. Look at their roster and look at ours. Yedlin vs Neymar and Robinson vs Douglas Costa will be the battles anyway. McKennie and Adams will cleat Coutinho hopefully and on we go from there.

I'm not dismissing him. But bjelks and blaise would NEVER give the same benefit of the doubt to a kid that flamed out in, say, the Jupiler league at age 19, then went to the MLS where he got some run, and started playing regularly in the MLS at 23. They'd be saying that his MNT career should be over. Look no further than how they view Lletget.

lol I've never said Gall is one of our best players, but I will say he's made great strides over the last 4 yrs and has improved his value and quality each yr. Like Charlie Davies, he has an opportunity to move to France or Holland after a yr or 2 and definitely someone we should keep an eye on as we are starved of creative wingers.

I will say it's ignorant to claim that Arriola, Roldan, Delgado and even Trapp who I know isn't a winger are better than him because they are MLS regulars and have been picked for natl teams before. To say that he has to play 30 games and score 15 goals to merit a call up for a team that didn't qualify for WC out of the worst region in the world is a joke. Again, it sounds like you have obvious bias for MLS players unless they're starting for a top 5 league team. And I don't even think you think MLS is the 6th best league in the world. Simmer down and stop trying to be an Internet tough guy.

We don't have 22 better players than Alfredo Morales, Roman Gall, Danny Williams, and Kenny Saief.

And Bradley and Jozy haven't been in our 23 best in at least 2 yrs.

I'm coming to grips with Trapp being the new Beckerman.
This is on page 2 of this thread. As you were saying...?

Dude, seriously, you keep getting torched out here. Like, almost every time. Do you have memory loss or something and forget the stuff you continuously spew?

You said I Said Gall was one of our best players. Very clearly, I said he was in our 23 in my opinion. Now I don't think he's one of our top 5 and I don't think he's a starter, but if you interpret 23 as saying he's one of our best players then that's your problem.
For the sake of his thread, if you would like to consider the top 23 as best players and Roldan, Delgado, Arriola, Trapp are in it, then it doesn't take much to be one of our best players and he sure could be one. Btw I've seen Roldan, Delgado, Trapp play several times and didn't know they were on the field. Arriola has some quality but I think he has a low ceiling.

You don't have to misinterpret to what I say. Just ask me if you don't understand straight up.

And I don't need to watch 30 - 90 minute games of someone to tell you they have the physical ability to get behind someone, the vision and touch to pick a pass in the box, and the skill, creativity and confidence to beat someone, as well as hit an accurate shot from distance off dribble.
Those qualities translate.
