Opening goal off of an absolute dive.

The sport is impossible to love.

I turned it off immediately.

edit: dolcem, I couldn't PM you back, but I hope you're well.

I hope you're all well. Just. . . . goddamn this fucking sport.

What a beautiful game. Outstanding performance from Les Bleus. Spectacular goals from Mbappe and Pogba. The best team won emphatically. American kids should be inspired to play this quality of football.

Hooray, we're on to the next cycle! And hopefully our young players can take some confidence from having drawn with the champs on the road (yes, in a friendly, still they got a result).

A good tournament overall, kind of a weird one though captured in microcosm in that final. Some excellent play, but then also own goals, keeper howlers, dives, VAR controversies. I stand by my earlier statement that VAR, if it was to be used in this tournament, should have been tested more in advance and used in qualifying. It has the potential for good, but it ended up being a really mixed bag of calls gotten right, calls where one judgment call was substituted for another, and calls just plain gotten wrong or not even referred to VAR (Griezmann's dive on the opener for example). They need to sort it out before Qatar.

With Qatar, I still hate the idea of a winter, middle of the season World Cup. I am in favor of expanding to get more teams from other continents in, but skeptical about the 16 groups of 3 idea, and definitely hate the idea of settling inevitable ties with penalty shootouts (which they should just get rid of in general).

I didn't see it mentioned here but there were at least 4 players from the French 2013 under 20 World Cup winning side on this team. (Pogba, Umtiti, Areola, Thauvin)

Have to say France in will be favorites to repeat in 4 years time. Very young team.

mmee, I hear you...hope you're well.

Cruel unfortunate start for Croatia...they were bossing the game. great start..then the flop...then the own goal. They get one back, then give up a rightful PK...They were always chasing the game and that is the ideal scenario for France to counter with Mbappe...the dude looked unstoppable in the open field every time he was on the ball.

Man, that team is stacked, so impressed with the level of quality at such a young age.

Deschamps should send Julian Green a fruit basket for exposing Sidibe which subsequently unleashed Pavard. Pavard had a hell of a World Cup.

Meh...if Griezmann leaves his leg there, he's getting hit.
