I just don't get why we aren't celebrating Konrad (with obvious caution) instead of tearing down two other players not named Konrad. Their path and what they do should not impact Konrad if he does what he can do- his potential playing for Barcelona is a huge trump card. It's the right time to be there as there seem to be a lot of openings on the squad. As I said a few weeks ago (this was even before Suarez leaving and of course Messi)- Barcelona is going to have a youth movement. Problem is there are guys ahead of him in the young player pecking order. Konrad is really going to have to do something special (or improve) to overtake some of these players... and that's saying nothing of guys like Griezmann and Coutinho. We will see where this leads but I hope a loan to the bundesliga. Koeman is watching there's always a chance.
Agreed, a few years ago we would have all been head over heels with Joy at this accomplishment. I hope he eventually gets first team minutes as well as regular minutes with Barca B.

Played for Barcelona 1st team and scored a goal (called offside) that should've counted ! Got a lot of praise for his play.
If any MLS dude is called over him then GB is an idiot !

While it's a HUGE accomplishment and something to be proud of...a friendly is still where coaches are willing to experiment and test out players that they are unsure of. Making it onto the field at Barca...even in a Friendly...is amazing. He just needs to make the next step by being a sub in a competitive match.
Remember Green was seeing minutes with Bayern during Friendlies but never made the transition to competitive games, and now plays in the B-2.

I'd still call Green up to the National team too.

Guys play in friendlies for the first team and then never see the field in league play all the time. That and.

Playing in one friendly on Barcelona ranks higher than playing on any MLS Team
Our best Wingers right now are: Pulisic, De la Fuente, Boyd, llanez, Green, Chandler
But somehow Berhalter will find a way to call up lleget, an injured Arriola or some MLS scrub

I love that we can even have the debate whether or not a US player making appearances in Barca friendlies should be included on the USMNT.... #progress!

If Uly already got a call anyone can, who is in or around a decent Euro sides first team, that includes: Harper, Uly, Konrad, Vassilev, & Richards.

Uly got that call due to timing: too good for u19 bund, not good enough for Wolfsburg first team, available for the January camp, Gregg friends with their sporting director... I don't disagree with the premise anyone can get called right now- but it would take a special set of circumstances for Konrad. And to be honest, if 45 mins in a friendly can get him a move- I'm all for it. Konrad needs to be playing first team soccer, if he could get to the Netherlands or Belgium on a loan, even better.

Was this another friendly?
Did he start or come off the bench?
How many minutes did he get?

I still don't think he's "an automatic starter", but he's starting to make a strong case for his inclusion. And before you get too bent out of shape, part of it is going to come down to where Gregg deploys Reyna...I don't think Gregg will use him as a CAM right away, but start him out wide opposite Pulisic for the time being.
It'll also greatly depend on how things progress over the next couple months for some of the other wide attackers:
With Weah healthy again and starting to see minutes for Lille....Uli being loaned to Heerenveen...and Boyd off to a strong start in Turkey. Anyway you cut it there is going to be some real competition for attacking roster spots:
Pulisic, Reyna, Boyd, Weah, Uli, Konrad, Aaronson, etc....

It was a friendly, but based on sub patterns, was closer to a real dress rehearsal, with all starters going 63ish minutes. Odds appear to be increasing that he stays with the first team.
