I am just tired of seing the same topics so I decided to start a new thread to discuss whether or not Arsene Wenger would be a good fit as USMNT manager. He has had success as a manager, has built some great teams over the years, and is not afraid to incorporate younger players into the side.

For me he would not be my first choice as he has become set in his ways over the years and only plays one way and never deviates from that. But he would be a step up from the type of manager we have had with a good cv to his name.

A club manager can work with the ownership to get players who play his style. The United States manager is akin to a high school coach. He needs to vary his style to fit the players that walk in the door. We can hope that in the future we will have enough quality players that a manager with a clear style of play (perhaps a US style) will be able to pick enough players to field a competitive team.

Hasn't he tried 5 3 2, 4 3 3, 4 4 1 1 systems with different concentrations?

I think he's tried different things, I think what's disappointed Wenger supporters is that he's lost on the modern game. Which is crazy to think that the game has evolved that much in 14 years, but it actually has.

If anything a Wenger appointment would yield a positive in that he'll play youth more readily and trust in them more.

I would love to hear someone like Wenger and his opinions on what the MLS can and does offer the youth. But unfortunately given his failings in the last decade his opinion would be with regards to credibility as someone on the level of Klinsmann in our SUM press.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
