I like the move, win-win for all parties including the US who get a nice insurance policy for their world cup squad.

Are you including Cameron? If not, I've got Gooch at 5th, making him the injury reserve. Unless Dolo regains his fitness and form before the WC, I think Cameron should be the starting RB.

My list might be different than yours though, I've got Besler, Gonzo, Goodson and Brooks ahead of Gooch.

I'd assume just off previous call-ups that Orozco is ahead of Gooch as well.

True, I didn't factor him in.

If we're talking about the experience factor though he's at the top of the list.

If Gooch gets some first team QPR games in prior to the November friendlies, don't be surprised to see Gooch called up for those games.

I'd be very surprised. Last time he was "fit", he looked awful.

Boca is already too old when we have such better options in younger age groups, but yes I take your point.

I would really like for us to start really using our youth more, show the guys that are coming up that they've got a shot at getting into the squad even though they're late teens early 20's.

Any additional motivation we can provide the young prospects will help us improve in the long run.

I still think Gooch is better than Orozco

Last time he was totally fit was with Sporting Lisbon, and he was a fan favorite as well as putting in really good performances.

Klinsmann likes to throw in surprises.

Let's not forget that the year before last Gooch was a starter for Sporting Lisbon, and before that, for Twente. He also was bought by AC Milan at one point and played for a Spanish team in the Champions League last year. He has accomplished way more at the club level than any of our current CB's (save for maybe Cameron) and is the same exact type of player that Goodson and Gonzalez are. The only difference is that he is much more experienced. The last two times he was called up he was just coming off of an injury and didn't look too good. But as I've said all along, if he is getting PT for his club team I'd probably take him over Gonzalez and maybe even Goodson.

Well considering what Klinns told Redknapp about Gooch he apparently expects him on the WC roster. Here's to hoping that Klinns is pulling a bit of "used car salesman" out to get Gooch a nice look/move.

Klinns has really helped our guys abroad. One thing I've always respected with him.

Yeah I know, then he blew his knee out. Unfortunately, he's not the same player anymore. He looked bad in the WCQ semis last year and has not played since.

Im all for him proving me wrong, but I just dont see it.

And yes, I also get the Klinsmann factor. I just wouldnt agree with this one.

I am telling you Klinsmann is a big fan of Onyewu, and if Gooch is playing regularly expect him to get called in for those November friendlies as well as being in line for a WC spot.

I have never felt that Klinsmann particularly rates Goodson, and IMO he and Orozco will be the odd men out come the 2014 WC team.

Gooch, Gonzo, Brooks, Besler could very well be your CB's, and don't be shocked if Gooch is actually the starter in the first game.

Cameron will get moved up to the midfield:

Bradley, Jones, Diskerud, Cameron. Outside looking in here: Beckerman, Torres, Williams

Never hurts to have options, especially experienced ones like Gooch. If I remember correctly Brooks still is not officially cup tied so there is that to consider. Also, if Gooch starts getting games and getting back into form, it lights a fire under Besler, Gonzo, and Goodson.

If I have to watch Onyewu back there during another World Cup I may lose it.
