He's back at Sporting Lisboa after his loan spell at Malaga ended. He has been rumored to make a move but I haven't seen any teams listed. I agree that he should come back to MLS.

Goff had this to say two weeks ago:

*U.S. center back Oguchi Onyewu, who made one Gold Cup appearance before being dropped with a sprained ankle and knee, is expected to arrive in Portugal on Friday to meet with Sporting Lisbon officials. A contract settlement, allowing him to pursue other opportunities, may be in the works. Onyewu, 31, made two La Liga appearances while on loan to Malaga last season.

He told me in late June that, although he would consider MLS at some point, he is not ready to leave the European circuit.

Meh. He'd be expensive and his better days have come and gone. He's my boy and all since he's from the DMV but I can think of a few players I would rather us spend money on before Gooch.

Looks like he is on his way to QPR. Not a bad move.

Totally fits in at QPR, their long tradition of slow, lumbering CBs means he's in good company.

Funny...and accurate. Good to see the dude land somewhere. Redknapp is a great manager so at the very least he'll get some good coaching.

I said that as a joke, but I do think it's a good move for him. We know that being slow won't keep him from starting and this move may well get him back into the WC picture.

Being that he's no higher than 6th on the USMNT CB depth chart, he's got a long way to go before that's even remotely plausible.

Are you including Cameron? If not, I've got Gooch at 5th, making him the injury reserve. Unless Dolo regains his fitness and form before the WC, I think Cameron should be the starting RB.

My list might be different than yours though, I've got Besler, Gonzo, Goodson and Brooks ahead of Gooch.

The fact that Klinsmann has expressed his delight that Gooch is now at QPR, could possibly mean that Gooch may still have a shot at the 2014 WC team.

JK is always positive so not surprised he expressed delight. That said, he also recognizes that Gooch, while not a starter, is an extremely experienced CE sub option and a good leader. If there's room on the roster ('Dolo doesn't make it back, Cameron moves to RB, AND Gooch is playing regularly and well for QPR) I wouldn't be surprised if he brings Gooch to Brazil.

If Gooch gets some first team QPR games in prior to the November friendlies, don't be surprised to see Gooch called up for those games.
