Watched that highlight reel of that kid Aaronson.

If US Soccer wants to keep pushing their MLS agenda for the national team why wouldn't you at least call this kid over Trapp or Bradley. US Soccer must really hate creative players.

You just keep on pushing your anti-MLS agenda, maybe someday it will stick

40 man preliminary roster is out. Holmes is on it. No Ventura Alvarado (despite Brooks not being included due to injury) or Alfredo Morales. Yedlin's not included. No Novakovich or Wooten (or Bobby Wood). Amon and Gyau are there though, along with Tyler Boyd. Our forward pool is depressing.

No Nova or Wooten on the 40 man, at least, is ridiculous.

Gyau is the most puzzling to me, since we're already calling a whole bunch of wingers and he needs a new club. Wooten's at the same level and a true striker who put up great numbers. But then again it seems with Gyau, Gutman, Fossey, etc. the "call-up" to the 40 is really just to help the player get a work permit, find a new club, etc. We won't even see some of these guys in camp (camp roster on Wednesday).

Well Berhalter has been in the same situation as Gyau and others so perhaps he is trying to help.

At any rate sometimes a player just clicks with the right group of players and the right situation. He has played for David Wagner so it is not out of the realm of possibility for him to get a trial with Schalke.

This 40 roster, i forgot how this works, does it mean all 40 go to camp and then prior to games starting it gets cut to a smaller number?

lol what ? I just stated a younger more technical kid in MLS is better than the current MLS posers Trapp and Bradley.

But MLS does suck, used to be a fanboy but it's gotten worse, especially after that CCL beat down. There's 0 defense. Wondo's first 2 goals were an absolute joke.

I'm not watching MLS this year. I'll give it another go around if the new CBA agreement allows more DPs.

No, the camp roster will not be all 40. On Wednesday the list of guys actually going to the camp will be released.

Pretty spot on 40 man prelim roster. Should be interesting to see who he chooses.

Don't understand having Lovitz, Omar and Gutman. But they may not even make the 23 that will be known tomorrow. It would be nice to see some opportunities for young strikers. Wouldn't mind seeing Nova and even Haji, yes, I am aware not getting regular minutes. I am not sure if Berkhalter is planning for the short or long term?

But we didn't make it to the World Cup with a lot of these same players. Really, Omar, AGAIN. Tim Ream AGAIN, Nagbe, I don't see either. Everyone knew Berkhalter was going to be the next coach but at least Dave Sacharen (spelling) gave the young guys a chance.

I don't know how you don't have Timothy Weah on this roster. I am aware held out for the U-20s. But Sargeant and him have been playing together for awhile and the more chances to play together, the better you know your teammates abilities. I do hope Duane Holmes makes the final 23. Mixed feelings about Bradley, he still has ability but work rate appears to be declining. And maybe it is a chance to give other players a chance to be a captain.

That is part is why Berkhalter selects Trapp. Trapp has captain qualities but not ability. I would still select Trapp just on leadership qualities. I am hoping he goes into coaching at some point.

I would've liked to seen Auston Trusty. And I am hoping that Gideon Zelalem makes a recovery this year, so we can see him next year but watching him, he is clearly not ready. But he is calm on the ball and has poise.

Lastly, when the Gold Cup does get here. Jamaica appears to have Ravel Morrison, a former Man United prospect/bad boy. Supposed to be great but dubious character kept his career in check. Now 26, he just did a one time switch to Jamaica. Anxious to see our team line up against him.

Yes, he has captain qualities. Yes, he is a leader. However, how can you lead when you are among the weak links on the field? How effective a leader can you be when the players around you know you are keeping a more talented player on the bench solely because of your leadership skills?

Early on guys will follow him because of his familiarity with GB and the system. But my gut tells me that once this group gets familiar with the system, he will become a liability because at the upper echelons of the game, he isn't ready. At the end of the day the players decide on a leader and who they will listen to.

He is a decent player in MLS that when he has ample time can hit a pass. I just think we have better, younger, more athletic options for his position.

Looks like there is a training camp before the Gold Cup training camp begins.

Training camp roster at Naval Academy:

GK: Marcinkowski, Thomas, Vom Steeg

D: *Fossey, Duncan, *Robinson, *Gutman, *Gonzo, *CCV, *Ream, *Miazga

M: *Holmes, Hyndman, Parks, Williamson

A: *Gyau, *Sargent, *Amon, De La Torre, Perez, Wright

Asterisk indicate players on the 40 man prelim roster.

Players already showing up for it.

Am confused about Holmes...has he been ruled out of the promotion playoff final?

Annapolis camp starts on the 26th through the 2nd...playoff final in the 28th. No real time for hiom to show anything.
