@stone88 - Dest isn't going to be called in at this point. 1) he's going to be with the U20 WC team. 2) Berhalter isn't going to bring in any new young players for the GC who haven't yet been in a camp. The one exception to this may be Holmes....but I see even that as a long shot at this point.

The only way this doesn't turn into an absolute nightmare is if Berhalter changes tactics and goes to a 3 CB formation with Wing-Backs. Than we could slot in a couple different players in at the RB position and keep a midfield spine of McKennie & Adams.

Berhalter will feel his "hybrid" works and will force Adams into that roll. I agree he would not try anyone new, so Dest will be with the U-20's.

I have been advocating a back three for a while with wingbacks, but alas GB will be set in his ways. I will say, however, that playing a back three would allow Berhalter to call in Holmes and play him as a wingback (he has played a few matches at RB this season). My preferred 11 would be...

Steffen
CCV, Brooks, Miazga
Holmes, Adams, WM, Robinson
Weah, Zardes (cringe), Pulisic

Ventura Alvarado over any MLS call up at defender? Number one ranking as central defender in liga mx as intercepter/plays stopped.

Both Altidore and Morris have injuries at the moment, along with Brooks and Yedlin. I'd like to see Alvarado get another shot, and I'm open to a Wooten call-up (17 goals on a bad 2.Bundesliga team).

Should be interesting to see who the final 23 man roster is.

This is mine:

D: Cannon, Adams, Lima, Lovitz, Brooks, Z-Man, Miazga, Ream

M: Mckennie, Roldan, Bradley, Trapp, Mihailovic, Nagbe, Lletget

A: Altidore, Zardes, Sargent, Pulisic, Amon, Arriola, Morris, Lewis

And Tyler Boyd makes the one time switch to the US. He will be on that Gold Cup roster now.

Just read this on another site and since I don't track players who are associated with other national team structures I have to ask the question of where Tyler Boyd fits into the player pool both short and long term. From what I've heard he can play as a winger or as a forward; 2 positions that we currently need help at, but also positions where there is some good young prospects being developed.

In the short term I have to believe that he'd be a step up from the players that Berhalter has used in the last 2 camps. So hopefully he'll be an immediate upgrade to the USMNT Gold Cup squad on the wing or at striker.

Long term is more difficult having only seen highligts of his play. Is Boyd likely to be a long term solution on par with the likes of Pulisic Adams, McKennie....or is he going to be a roll player after the likes of Weah & Sargent gain the experience they need to claim starting rolls?

Tyler Adams returned to the field today and played 64 minutes.

Johansson made a substitute appearance for Bremen. I'd bring him to the gold cup camp the way Altidore and Morris visited camp cupcake. Just to watch the practices and understand what Berhalter is looking for.

Tyler Boyd will and should play the role we've seen from Arriola and Baird: stay wide, stay wide, and then look to get into the box when play shifts.

I think both Weah and Sargent have a ways to go. Boyd is likely a winger with this team. And if he gets a permanent move to Turkey Boyd will be with the US throughout this entire WC cycle. He will be 27 in 2022.

If Berhalter is looking to boost his team with youthful attacking play both Amon and Aaronson would be good picks. Aaronson looks like he could own that #10 spot. Amon with another goal for Nordsjaelland today.

While I don't disagree with you, I can't see Berhalter making these types of inclusions at this stage. Berhalter has already shown that he prefers veterans over youth prospects. And both Amon & Aaronson are fairly inexperienced players. I could see them get a call if we weren't heading into our regional tournament, but since we are I don't see it happening.

I expect we'll see Amon in after the GC during the new nations tournament and Aaronson at the next January Camp (unless there is a U-23 camp this January).
