I like it. You can't go wrong with either Zimmerman or Long next to Brooks.Do any of us anticipate Dest getting first team minutes for Ajax though? He was named in the first team squad for preseason I'm just cautious on his playing time.

Yeh I'd be cool with Long also. He played very well throughout the GC, I just personally prefer Zimmerman. I just like that Zimmerman has the balls to push forward and press the attack. He even loves to take long distance shots if given the opportunity.

As for Dest I'm not sure about his playing time with Ajax first team. It is my guess that he will get a shot with the first team sometime this coming season. Will he impress? Don't know. But my guess is he will get some good minutes this season to prove if he belongs. I put him at left back because anybody is an upgrade to Ream or Lovitz. And from what I have seen Dest has gotten some recent playing time and training at Leftback with Ajax.

To be honest Jozy is still the starter until Sargent really starts to put up goal scoring numbers at Bremen. Now Sargent for Zardes..... yes.

I don't think Jozy needs to play in a friendly to prove anything to anyone. All it will do is add mileage to his legs. For me, he's there to be called when we get to WC qualifying if he is fit- but I'm not calling in him or Bradley or Ream (even though they are borderline best XI for me still) unless it's a huge game and we need experience on the bench. I don't even consider Zardes when making my lineups I would never call him in at all.

Florian Kohfeldt was surprised at sargents non inclusion over the summer and was calling him exceptionally fit to use his words. So I guess I don't know what else to say but let the games begin and we can re-debate who we think should play.

More troubling is Adams continuing adductor problem those things are serious I wouldn't be surprised if he needs sports hernia surgery.

There are several players that could step up and replace Zardes, and Josy the only question is will they. It would be nice to see Kevin Bacon do well at Hammerby and put himself back in contention. I am hoping that this is the year Sergent takes the step forward he needs too. There are the other U-20 that could take a step as well. Soto, La Fuente, Rennicks and obviously Weah.

Sargent, Nova and Wood could easily replace Jozy and Zardes with a good start to the season if we're still using merit to pick players

If were going by merit then only Novo from that group deserved a look.

You're replying to someone who argued for Danny Williams based on performances from 4 years ago, he clearly isn't interested in merit.

If we're considering national team form, than neither Jozy or Zardes should get another call until someone else proves there's finishing is worse

Obviously we don't just consider National team form. Both players did score goals in the Gold Cup for the National team however. That being said I am really hoping that we have better in from options than either Jozy or Zardes for future call ups. We have several players on the cusp, they just need to take that next step.
