As long as Berhalter insists on playing Adams at RB because he thinks Trapp or Bradley are better passers, there's a huge question as to whether Berhalter is a competent coach.

@cudevil- many of us are asking that question as well.

IF we scrap the whole Tyler Adams inverted RB/midfielder thing and revert to a more traditional 4-3-3 then I think you have to put Lovitz at LB. Ream isn't a traditional LB who gets forward well. I don't think Lovitz is great either but he's not Ream out there on the touch line. Long term I think this is the spot we see a converted midfielder, not right back. Unless Gloster shows well next season there will continue to be heavy rotation there. I don't think this Gold Cup solves or changes anything related to the left back position.

Who are the CBs? I'd put a more traditional lineup like I said and say that Miazga must start at that RCB spot. He's the best of the bunch. The other spot is up for grabs as well but I think I'd take Ream there unless Long is actually healthy which I don't buy. It's an open competition for that spot but the other one must be Miazga.

I could see Zardes starting and playing a lot against a crap team, saving Jozy for the next game against T&T.

Well tonight it shouldn't come into play because we should hold possession, but the last two friendlies clearly showed against stronger opponents we need an athletic player like Adams covering for the defense rather than a "passer" like Bradley and Trapp.

I would also say we do not have adequate outside backs, so I would still advocate to play a 3-4-3. In a year or two I would love to see the following:

Steffen
EPB, Brooks, Miazga
Dest, McKennie, Adams, Gloster
Weah, Sargent, Pulisic

But for this tournament...

Steffen
Zim, Miazga, Ream
Arriola, Bradley, Mckennie, ?
Boyd, Jozy, Pulisic

At least Trapp isn't in it.

Alright, I'll get it going. What I think is a good possibility to see tonight:

- Arriola - Jozy - Boyd -
- Pulisic - McKennie -
-- Bradley --
Ream - Zim - Miazga - Lima
-- Steffen --

Candidly, the main question marks are:
  • Does Jozy start over Zardes?
  • Does Bradley Start over Trapp?
  • Who plays in CB?
Based on previous lineups, all of the other positions seem like they are set. Lima, Arriola, Pulisic, McKennie, Ream, etc. Does Trapp keep his spot? Does Long start? Will Zardes get the start? I also wouldn't be surprised to see Morris get the start over either Boyd or Arriola...
All of this was fairly predictable, guys.

Don't overthink it. Jozy is likely getting a rest in order to not push him/get hurt for later in the tournament. Like it or not, if we make the final... we will need him. Badly.

Pulisic and Mckennie are comically better than everyone else save Boyd.

Have to say Boyd's all around play was pretty good in that half. I would say he was our best player. Pulisic dominated early but dropped off as the half wore on. Good goal by Arriola. Zander's...... McKennie started out iffy but was better towards the end of the half. Hopefully we score some more goals in the second half.

That's not a good first half. Play like that against Panama and T&T we are in trouble. The tempo and the movement are not good.
