• Holmes out, replaced by another MLS player

• Wooten finalizing a deal to play in MLS means he'll automatically be on the National team

US won't even place 3rd at this gold cup

I've been saying for 2 years this team should be built around Adams and s Mckennie in 4-2-3-1 like Kante and Pogba in France.
Instead, Greg made up this dumb ass formation and tactic that no one understands to keep Trapp and MB on the field for "leadership".
That's the bed he made and we have to lay in it.
And the back up holding mids for this tourney should be Morales and Williams.

@lilshmike- I can count on one hand the times myself, stone88, bjelks, Blaise, 2tone, etc have agreed on anything. We represent a large cross section of the fans and normally we disagree on most things...

As the old saying in the room goes if everyone in the room is saying one thing and you're saying another- it's either they are all wrong or more likely it's youre wrong.

I don't disagree that's fans shouldn't run the team, but that's not the point here. Pretty much everyone from ex-players, the "soccer community" in America, fans... whoever. They all are seeing this one way and the coach sees it another.

Like i said before most people rated Adams well above Bradley and Trapp in the 6 role, to say nothing of other guys such as Russell Canouse... most MLS watchers and players and coaches and whoever else rate these guys ahead Bradley/Trapp based on their current MLS play. But Gregg is smarter than the rest of us so what does it matter if guys who are playing better are being left out (and that's domestically, to say nothing of guys who "graduated" from MLS already and are somehow behind the MLS guys... like if Miazga doesn't start over Zimmerman or Long that's just dumb). It's all a head scratcher to people who the MLS, let alone all the fans who think players from higher rated leagues should be above the MLS players. All very strange.
Excuse me, but what exactly am I seeing that nobody else is?

Only thing I've been advocating for in this thread is to chill until we play in the Gold Cup. Friendlies are friendlies, they aren't meaningful competitive games.

Nothing controversial about that.

Idk I'm kinda with you but at the same time Berhalter's selections and game decisions make me nervous.

Also, worth noting that Venezuela is playing pretty well against Peru right now. We played like dogshit against Ven, but it's not like they are a pushover.

No and no. Only way Berhalter is fired is if we don't qualify for the WC. That's his mission. I don't think winning or losing the Gold Cup matters.

Berhalter still has time to integrate new faces prior to the star of WC qualifying.

If the USSF truly feels Greg can be an incompetent failure for 3 yrs and just happen to qualify and he'll be successful, then this organization is more dysfunctional and clueless than I thought.

I have to agree with you. Every time we win a friendly and people get excited everyone points out very quickly that it's just a friendly and meaningless. If that is the case then why are the same people all going apeshit now that we lost a couple of friendlies? Lets just see how the GC goes and re-evaluate once it's complete.

theres a difference between playing bad in friendlies, and just not having the talent. Look at this usa team that we are fielding in the gold cup. It might be the worst "A" team we've put out in a tournament. The team doesn't just look bad we took a team thats just less talented than our opponents. Look at this team and compare it to mexico and costa rica... we are just less talented, but not because of our depth, but because we decided to just leave players at home, because they are "young"... or haven't "graduated"

Or because they're not every week 90 min starters even tho they play on better clubs than mls offers. And John Lewis was called up before being a reg starter.
Or because they've had injury issues even tho Jordan Morris didn't play for 18 months before a call up.
Or they don't get the benefit of the doubt because they don't have blonde hair and blue eyes and their dad used to be the natl coach.
