I like Johannson but he will be hurt, Green will be an impact for us, he is starting to get some good PT

I think Weah will start to see some time with a first team and be an option.

Rubin will be a player to keep tabs on as well this next year. Hopefully he does well at Tijuana.

I think it will be important to how EPB does as well in Belgium. Helps get him his work permit, plus I am not sold on Brooks staying healthy.

Zimmerman doesn't belong in this group at all lol. Isn't he the same guy that closelined a Bosnia player for penalty? Too slow and clumsy, low iq.
EPB easy.
Saief over Acosta easy.
Boyd, Novakovich, Green or Rubin over Morris. Morris doesn't have the chops to be an intl player. Lacks the quality and fight/ ambition.
Stanko or Morales if DWill is hurt.

Not knowing who the manager will be, or what type of formation we'll potentially use makes it very difficult to project a 23 man roster. A lot can happen over the next 18 months....players will rise and fall. The Players I think could/should be under consideration:
Lots of options out there including some that I've intentionally left off (Jozy & Bradley), but will come down to whomever the coach is, who is in form, and who is healthy at the end of next year.

Dave the biggest issue I have with your list is Gooch. If he cannot get on the field for a team fighting relegation in the Championship, how is he USMNT quality.

With Fabian Johnson back and playing well for Gladbach, I tend to wonder if he might be in the equation for the Gold Cup? He has that veteran leadership and still has a lot of quality to bring to what I believe will be a young team. I get that he is going on 30, but I wouldn't toss him out yet.

I thought Johnson was done with the national team, so we would have to convince him to come back. That said, I could see it, perhaps as a versatile bench option.

True, Fabian said the 2018 World Cup would be his last World Cup. I don't think he mentioned anything about needing to play in it for those words to count.

Johnson has no interest in playing for us again. He is focused on his club career. He only wanted to play in the WC. Unless he is still playing at a high level next world cup and is better than other players we have, I would be surprised to see him line up in a national team uniform again.

I think Fab would be more interested in playing for us if we had a manager he respected and a 23 he felt were international quality or at least capable of competing at a high level.

Can Johansson ever make it back? There a lot of what ifs but I've turned the page on many and am looking forward to the younger guys getting run in the Gold Cup. I'd rather sink or swim with Gall and Canouse than Johnson and Bradley for example.
