Thomas Rongen is head scout of the USMNT. Is it just me or does this guy have the most bizarre aura (and belief system, claiming Messi has a mediocre soccer IQ for one). We need a big restaffing eventually.

Feels like we took a little trip back in a time machine.

Bruce must have brought him back into the fold through the side door in the middle of the night...not a lot of press on it.

Supposedly he met with Gonzalez' family three times over the last year. God only knows how stilted and bizarre that must have been.

I'm going on record right now...stating these bizarre encounters with Rongen tragically sealed the fate for the USA....Uh, no thanks clown.

Hercules Gomez twitter: "Spoke to Tab Ramos, Thomas Rongen and Jonathan Gonzalez's father, and despite claims of multiple in-home visits, I can confirm no #USSF official EVER visited the Gonzalez household. All the details on today's #MaxAndHerc. #USMNT #ElTriEng @mbretosESPN @SebiSalazarFUT"

If Rongen truly did lie about having gone to Gonzalez's home 3 times, that might be the #1 all time low scum move from a US Soccer staff member. Should be arrested (jk......maybe not). He is SUCH A goober Rongen (stupid neck, stupid wardrobe, stupid hair, stupid face, and on and on)!

Why is Rongen even involved in the US system anymore? The guy is a tool.

The same reason why toolbag Ritchie Williams is still on the USMNT coaching staff.

isn't Rongen basically the guy responsible for Subotic running away from the US too? God, I hated the Bruce hire...I hate it even more now, even after the sting of missing the WC has worn off.

Him and his whole staff are just gigantic clowns.

That is the herc podcast where they discuss jono issue at last 15 minutes of podcast.

Disgusting to the highest degree. Proof Rongen and Ritchie Williams should be fired IMMEDIATELY. Rongen lied about going to jono house three times and then lies again by saying he phrased it incorrectly. Ritchie Williams the scumbag called jono when he was 14 or 15 years old to offer him a spot in residency or something, a major decision involving moving and life altering decision for a child. The family asked if they could have time to think it over, he said no and that they needed to make a decision in next 10 minutes. DISGUSTING, REVOLTING, IMMORAL. Their family told herc that horribly tarnished us soccer to them.

THE USSF CANDIDATE WHO WILL FIRE RONGEN AND RITCHIEWILLIAMS SHOULD GET EVERYONES SUPPORT.

I do not disagree about Rogen and why did he say that, he should be gone.

Now Williams should be gone for other reasons, but what they did is not uncommon in college recruiting. You force decisions. Is it right maybe maybe not, but I have heard stories of this type of recruitment. Now how Juan Carlos did it is the right way to do it. Recruiting is an ugly ugly game, and thee is a lot of heavy handed offers made. Is it right or wrong not sure but that is how business is done from buying a house, business, or sports recruiting at all levels. I think dual nationals from England, Mexico, Germany, and other nations handle them in very similar ways.

There was simething else talked about here. One that I think should be talked about. Did the US rate the kid? I have seen Scriatta write that Tyler Adams would probably not start over Gonzalez at Monterray, but that Gonzalez would not start over Adams at NYRB. It sounds like wether it was size, McKinnie Adams Parks and other CM depth, plus players like EPB or CCV who could be moved to CDM he just did not fit in. You cannot be in on every player the same. I think the YUSMNT set up liked other guys a whole lot more.

Another point about the ten minutes. There are three sides of the truth, yours, mine, and reality. We have seen one side. What if USSF offered previosuly and the Gonzalez family could not make up their minds. The USSF already got a committment from another kid and the family was prepared to make the sacrifice for their kid, but USSF liked Gonzalez more. Why is it fair to that next kids family to put their life on hold with important sacrfices notifying employers etc, so the Gonzalez family can take a week to decide. I do nit like Williams and think he should go, but that is not all on USSF until the full truth is known.

I agree to a certain point. But right now Rongen, Williams, Ramos all look very bad with this situation. But also Gonzales went to Mexico once they showed interest. He wasn't completely in with the US soccer. If he does well with Mexico then so be it, but he is already having a meh spring Liga MX season. Getting subbed out multiple times.

Rongen = Fake news

I'm going to watch the mexico game to see how he does but I'd love more than anything for him to have a mediocre season and not get a call up to the World Cup.
