Good point, Know Nothing. Sargent seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a good sense for the game. Nice to see him open his account.

I saw the goal, but that has nothing to do with the fact Jozy scored 3 premier league goals in 70 games/ 3 yrs and has been in a 3rd tier league for 4 yrs lol.
And you still believe he's our top striker based on criteria you made up.

I'll ask you a question, are nba players better than d-league players?
You see jozy is approaching old in soccer yrs and has been in the d-league for 4 yrs lol.
This thread is about Sargent, not Jozy.

Crap goal but who cares! I'm just happy he's getting time and this guarantees him more chances and I agree, I really like to see the reaction after scoring and of his teammates who clearly like him.

Josh Sargent may be one of the few people to have ever done this in the bundesliga (or EPL etc)

Scored on their debuts for the following
U17 NT
U20 NT
MNT
Club U23
Club Fullteam

It's still too early to tell but the US may finally have a real poacher, a goal scorer who just scores goals. Everywhere he has been, every level he has played at he scores goals. Hopefully he can keep that up.

But Jozy didn't score these type of goals or barely any at the top level lol (Premier League).
The pt is we have 3 guys that are better now as far as talent/ quality than Jozy has ever been.

A goal is a goal, for Sargent to be in that spot for a reason, it is not magical that he was there. If you watch the slo-mo of the goal, he had great elevation when the ball sailed 4 inches over him.

I would start Sargent over Jozy, however, if I had to guess, with MLS bias, Jozy will start against Belize, Gautamala (score 3, 4 goals) and all the while, Sargent will be rotting on the bench

Today as of right now, Sargent should start. Being how things are happening, goals recently scored and injuries to Jozy, and given that Greeg is coach now, Zardes will probably start lol. Trapp too.

How is Bobby Wood so easily looked over?
i will speak for myself personally. Many times I have seen Wood and Jozy both look isolated up top when playing alone in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 or whatever. ***in limited national team minutes we have seen Sargent be able to combine with teammates and hold the ball up, passing to his guys with a variety of skills and passes. After seeing the vision and understanding that Sargent possesses- it's hard not to want to put him on top of the striker list. He's just the most complete guy we've had in the position: combining the skills of Dempsey with the hold up play of McBride while running in behind like Charlie Davies.

Wood needs better service to shine his best (he rarely is afforded that opportunity for club or country), but he may not get it. Better to have a player like Sargent who can make plays for himself and others out there. Hes the first modern #9 the USA have had.

Like Wondo?

Yes except Wondo could never do that above MLS level. Hopefully Sargent can.
