Would be a great move for him. Keita is gone and Adams has a lot of Keita like qualities.

The deal is done. He will stay with New York until the MLS season is over. This is more of a bookkeeping sale as he is just moving within teams the owners own.

Great news. Kid is a born leader and needs the technical skill increase to go along with his excellent field recognition both on offense and defense. The all action style of the bundesliga fits Adams like a glove in my opinion.

Question is, for the USMNT does Adams play a #6 with McKennie in front of him or some other arrangement?

I'm still sticking with Adams and Mckennie in a double pivot 6 with CP, Holmes or Djorde at 10.
We need to play as many creative technical players as possible

Mihailovic has been impressive during the camp from what I have heard. And won't be surprised to see a midfield three of McKennie-Mihialovic-Adams during the Gold Cup.

Adams did great today! I was so excited. First half, close to the beginning, he slid tackled some dude m for the ball, all ball, and got up with the ball!!! Made a good pass after winning possession. Moments later he went in hard, clean on another guy, won possession that turned into another attack close to the oposing half. The guy stayed down lol. Any see that? Man o man.

He did fine in the Bundesliga at the #6. He is a step up over Bradley

Smh well Ngolo Kante is basic too.
He's a #6, he's supposed to win balls, force turnovers and play simple balls forward.

Blaise doesn't use a CDM when he plays FIFA.

@blaise. File Adams in the category of you were and are wrong about him. As I said the last time you said some dumb shit about Adams, he's the best we have. Can't believe you don't rate this guy it's crazy.

I still feel that when everyone is available our best formation is either a 5-3-2 (using wingbacks) or a 4-2-3-1 (using 8's at the 2 CM spot).

5-3-2
Plays as a 3-4-1-2 when attacking. Robinson & Yedlin as wingbacks provide speed & width and can join the attack effectively. Use 3 athletic CBs who can distribute (Brooks, Miazga, CCV). Pinch McKennie & Adams in and put Pulisic above them centrally as a triangle midfield. Lastly put Sargent & Weah up top and give them the freedom to find the game. Robinson, Yedlin, McKennie & Adams have the motor's & speed to pressure high and recover.

4-2-3-1
the outside backs need to defend a bit more, but with McKennie & Adams in the 2 spot they should be able to get forwards at times. The 3 attacking mids is where we struggle a bit. We can field Pulisic at any of the 3, but we'll need to find options for the other 2 spots....Weah, Amon, Carleton, Homes, Saief, Gall, Scott, Mihailovic... then put Sargent or Wood up top.

In either of these formations we can field a strong starting XI, but we still lack quality depth beyond the first XI. That is where Berhalter will need to focus....finding & cultivating back-up options who wont drastically reduce the quality of play.
