Williams in my mind is to old and injury prone. Wish he could have stayed healthier, but his body is what it is.

With the way the team bowed out of the 2018 cycle the federation has to make some significant changes. IMO I think that almost the entire pool needs to be overhauled.
Ultimately whomever becomes the next fill-time manager will determine what formation(s) and therefore which players will be involved. But there are any number of options that should be explored....

Keeper: Horvath, Gonzalez, Steffen, Hamid, Cropper,
Defense: Brooks, Yedlin, Miazga, CCV, EPB, Glad, Farfan, Fossey, Olosunde, Payne, Acosta
Midfield: Acosta, McKennie, Lletget, Roldan, Hyndman, Gooch, Scott, De La Torre, Canouse, Senora, Arce, Adams, Jones, Zelalem,
Attackers: Pulisic, Wood, Morris, Green, Saief, Sargent, Manneh, Weah, Taitague, Wright, Perez, Akale, Lennon,

If the new manager wants to do a send-off game I'd prefer if it was charity match pitting US Veterans Vs. the next generation of US players. Set if up during the January Camp since nearly all of the Veterans are in MLS (Howard, Dempsey, Bradley, Beasley, etc....). Send them off while also giving young players a chance to audition.

Just thinking about this. A potential line-up for 2020:

GK - Horvath (currently the starting GK for Brugge at 22 years old). VERY good possibility he is starting for a top 5 league team and/or Champions league team in 5 years.

RB - Yedlin (currently starting for a Mid-Table Premier League team)

CB - Miazga (currently starting for Vitesse)
EPB (just signed with Man City, good very well be a Premier league caliber starter in 5 years)
CCV (playing for Sheffield Utd. Likely will be a Premier League caliber starter in 5 years)

LB - Olosunde (doing well in Man Utd set up and close to breaking through...natural RB, but we never have LB...)

MF - McKennie (starting for Schalke as a teen right now. Good chance he is a Champ league caliber player in 5 years)

MF - Pulisic (staring for Dortmund right now. Already a Champ league caliber player, potentially could be one of better players in the world in 5 years).

MF - Carleton (supposedly is the most talented American teen right now. Will hopefully move over to Europe soon).

FW - Weah (close to breaking through to PSG's first team)

FW - Sargent (most decorated US Youth player ever, and moving to Bundesliga).

That is the making of a VERY good team. EASILY out most talented and technical team ever.

@USAGunner - While I agree that the players you listed are talented and appear to be well positioned to help us in the future, I'm actually more impressed with the overall depth of the team (Players 12-21). IMO that is where we'll make the greatest strides over the next couple years....
RB - Adams?
CB - Brooks, Glad
LB - Farfan, Robinson, Acosta
MF - Acosta, Gonzalez, Gooch, Scott, Taitague, Hyndman, Saief, Manneh, Green
F - Akale, Wright, Perez, Lennon

We've had talent in the starting XI in the past....but we've always been hurt due to lack of quality depth. 2022 looks to be the 1st time where we'll have quality in our 2nd and even 3rd string players.

For sure. But That will be more talent than we have had in the starting XI by a good margin.

Really looking at those ages the year where we will be at the top of the hill with this generation is 2026. The guys listed above will be in their prime years (25-29), and the depth will largely come from that generation and the 14-15 year olds. Which appear to be much better generations than the 21-24 year olds (right now) which would be the older generation then (30+).

2020 we will still be relying a lot for depth on the older generation and the younger generation will still be very young. But pushing out to 2026 that generation is getting pushed out as the younger generation push through.

Not to mention 2022 is in Qatar...2026 is going to be in the USA. That'll make a big difference.

2026 is really the year.

Have to add Shaw Moore to the RB list. Getting closer and closer to a first team debut with Levante.

Absolutely, I have been following Shaq* Moore a bit closely, he is on his way soon, it'll be great.
