Again and again we see Agudelo doesn't work on the USMNT as a winger or even a striker. Try new players.

How the hell didn't Rowe get on the field?

Adams did well, but I don't like him as a winger. He needs to play centrally to partner with McKennie.

Gooch did well, Sapong did well but he is too old, Miazga/Brooks/CCV all did quite well, Lichaj did well but he's too old.

Bewildering how Rowe is viewed. I didn't need to see Bedoya get in that game.

Loved the guys at ESPN FC's take on this.

Bruce Arena is a f****n idiot! He played his favorites (Gonzalez) like Klinsmann did and it cost us not going to the World Cup. I've been saying forever that our CB's should be: Brooks, CCV, Miazga, Cameron. He didn't even call Miazga up but then said him and brooks would be the WC starters.... Wow.....Then he went on further to say the inclusion of Lellget... GTFO

Super refreshing to not see Bradley and Altidore.

*Mckinnie is an exciting player good for him.
*Brooks and Miazga are dope together, very composed. Even CCV coming in was nice.
*All those calling for Lichaj, props to ya'll. He looked better than Villafana
* I'm not mad at Agudelo, always thought he should've been a winger
*Yedlin brought some new attacking moves

For the bad

*Don't think Tyler Adams is international quality
*Why did Bedoya come in ? WTF
*Sapong isn't the answer

@navi8132
Why you calling for Rowe? Dude sucks...... fool had a man bun last year

Fair enough, but I just don't think he is better than other wide options we have.

Honest question....what other "Wide options" do we have? The wide positions (Outside Back & Outside Mid) are the thinnest positions on the depth chart.

Pulisic - Known value, no need to pull him into this camp.
Green - Not getting much PT at the moment
Saief - Hasn't fully recovered from his hernia surgery
Manneh - Not sure if he's been cleared by FIFA
Gayu - Playing in German 3rd division
Arriola - Wasn't impressive in the qualification failures
Rowe - Should have seen the field before Bedoya
Wright - more of a forward IMO, but could have been an option if called in.

Gooch - IMO equal/better than to anyone on this listing not named Pulisic.

Dave. Arriolla was fine in the qualifiers minus T&T. But he was not called up due to him having two minor surgeries.

Green I asked a reporter if he fell out favor already on his relegation zone team from 2 Bundesliga. I was told the coach is actually quite pleased with him but he is injured at the moment.

If Arena thought Miazga was his starting CB for the 2018 World Cup where was he for the qualifiers

Or the f**king Gold Cup. He was on the roster and Bruce used him against Nicaragua. He should have started every game in the Gold Cup. That comment from Bruce was infuriating.

As long as Sarachan continues to play youngsters, I'm fine with him staying on as interim manager for a couple of months if it allows US Soccer to bring in a high quality manager.

I thought he had a good first half. Like most kids got lost as all the subs came in. At 17 I would rather see him make mistakes but allow his athleticism make up for it versus Bradley.

I'm OK with Sarachan remaining the interim manager, but this game was always going to be a youth evaluation, even if we had qualified. The only difference would have been which veterans were included (Cameron & Fabian over Bedoya & Villafana). I just have a sinking feeling that he's following the script that Bruce originally laid out.
When I see who he calls up for the January Camp than I'll believe he's going to continue to play youngsters. If the January camp includes Howard, Dempsey, Bradley, McCarty and others of this type than he needs to be replaced and the sooner the better.

The problem is that the best managerial candidates won't be available until after the WC next summer. So if they're starting the search now the candidate pool is going to be made up of people who failed to get their teams to the WC or are going to come from MLS after the season ends.

Just watched the game. First time seeing McKennie. I thought he was good, real nice well rounded game, good mentality. Well taken goal, but I was equally impressed with the header he rocked off the bar...tough in the box, definitely something we need more of.

Miazga was very solid...couple wobbles, but otherwise very sharp. I have no doubt he would have been able to start at CB and allowed us to move Cam to Dmid...so sad, it would have been a game changer for our midfield.

Adams has all the tools...mentally strong...he got himself into great spots on the field...he just needs to gain experience in a more competitive league.

I was actually disappointed with Yedlin's game...pretty spotty for his level of experience.

It was a huge bummer Sargent wasn't available.

It was nice to see a few young players. I wasn't impressed by the fringe guys.

Looking forward to see who we bring in for camp cupcake....really want to see Lletget, Lima, and Yueill.

Very impressed and just flat out thrilled at what I saw today. This was a new USMNT. Faster, more skillful, winning the ball a level we haven't seen for us before, etc. I would still like to get a new manager besides Sarachan, though, that hasn't changed. Regardless, absolutely thrilled from the performance. I don't care that it's "a pointless friendly against a Portugal B team," they had plenty of good players out there, including, y'know, a guy who starts for BARCELONA and some other talented or even brilliant players (Bernardo anyone?)

Player evaluation:
- GK Ethan Horvath: So disappointing to see what happened to him. He's been the GK I've had on my mind for a very long time as the future and this was tragic for me. I won't give up on him yet, but I think I got Jesse Gonzalez as my new #1 GK of the future.
- GK Bill Hamid: Meh
- RB DeAndre Yedlin: I enjoyed Yedlin's play, him and Tyler Adams together on the right side were brilliant together in my opinion. I've thought for a bit now of having Adams and Yedlin at LB and RB, but now I'm adding another option, maybe it should be Adams and Yedlin RM and RB.
- CB Matt Miazga: Brilliant performance from Matt, he should have been playing tons already, he should have 20 caps by now, fuck Bruce Arena.
- CB John Brooks: Still a beast, John Brooks so good. That one slide tackle he had (can't remember who against or when) was huge. Really enjoyed how John looked in the back as well.
- CB Cameron Carter-Vickers: This officially locks me in on what I've wanted for some time, which is the 3 CB 2 WB formation (could be a 5 or 3 defender formation depending on how you look at it). CCV was great and he should have atleast a few caps by now, this being his debut is bullshit. Fuck you again, Bruce Arena.
- LB Eric Lichaj: Very interesting, I liked what I see from him, either him or Tyler Adams for LB for the time being for me.
- LB Jorge Villafana: Yeah, I'm done with him now. He wasn't bad, but yeah, meh. Lichaj definitely jumped him today.
- DM Danny Williams: He was alright, keep it up. Captain's armband gone though after this, it goes on Pulisic or McKennie.
- LM Juan Agudelo: Meh, it was fine. Still another guy that isn't worthy to be an A team guy for sure.
- LM Lynden Gooch: Good stuff, he was dangerous on several occasions, enjoyed seeing him play like that.
- CM Kellyn Acosta: Good stuff, a good recovery from some poor form he had in his more recent USMNT matches, on to Europe and continuing to improve his game. It could really help.
- CM Weston McKennie: Man of the Match alert. A brilliant performance from Weston, it was so enjoyable to watch. He is absolutely the future of the USMNT number 8. A midfield with him, Jonathan Gonzalez, and Pulisic up top has me salivating and getting ready to scream out "USMNT World Cup Champs 2026" lol In all seriousness, phenomenal, please keep it up.
- CM Alejandro Bedoya: Why
- RM Tyler Adams: Really liked what I saw with him. He and Yedlin is fun to watch. They're also pretty much interchangeable, you can have one move forward and one stay back and not really have to worry too much, it's really nice. Hopefully, he can continue this.
- CF: CJ Sapong: Enjoyed his play for sure, but yeah, still got several guys ahead of him. Keep it up though and who knows.
- CF: Dom Dwyer: Meh.

Other Notes:
-Really sucked that we couldn't see any of Sargent, Jesse Gonzalez, and Rowe.
-We have a friendly in January against Bosnia. I want all of the youth here back and I want to add Jonathan Gonzalez, Erik Palmer-Brown, Kenny Saief, Bobby Wood, Emerson Hyndman, maybe a left back, and more. I also want that to be the first start for Saief, Jo.Gonzalez, Je.Gonzalez, and Sargent, all four, if not others as well.
