Didn't realize that. Alright it does beg the question considering Villa would have a younger replacement in the form of Antonee Robinson.

I agree 10000% but was told Robinson was not on preliminary list that was due last month and Robinson just started playing. Scarrietta told me that on Twitter which probably same for Shaq Moore.

It's time....

Dwyer - Sargent
Rowe - Adams - Yedlin
mcK - Williams
Miazgo-JB-CCV
Horvath

Rowe doesn't seem very wingbacky to me so adjust as necessary.....Maybe Acosta

He sat out Saturday with a concussion. I guess that wouldn't necessarily preclude him from participating, but might be the reason for his absence. Agree in that I'd prefer him to Bedoya all things equal.

I just don't get the world we live in where Bedoya gets preferred to Nguyen/Feilhaber/Klejstan.

Bill Hamid, Midtjylland (26, 3);
Ethan Horvath, Club Brugge (22, 1).

Defenders:
John Brooks, Wolfsburg (24 years old, 32 caps);
Cameron Carter-Vickers, Sheffield United (19, 0);

C.J. Sapong, Philadelphia Union (28, 2);
Josh Sargent, Werder Bremen (17, 0).

Okay, we have a roster most like...now to get a starting XI in a formation that works.

I would expect Horvath to start with Hamid replacing him at halftime

You don't call in Brooks without starting him but Miazga and CCV warrant starting time as well. So do you play with 2 or 3 CB's?

Looking at the outside backs/wing backs (depending how you want to line them up), there is a repalcement for Yedlin but none for Villa, so it looks like Adams or Acosta could see time at LB (I assume Ream will be used as a CD).

I am looking at this roster and it screams 3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2.

My guess to start:

Horvath
Miazga, Brooks, CCV
Yedlin, Williams, McKennie, Villa
Aguedelo, Dwyer, Rowe

My guess to finish:

Hamid
Miazga, CCV, Ream
Lichaj, Adams, Bedoya, Acosta
Gooch, Sargent, Sapong

Lineup I'd like to see (not what I think will happen).

---Dwyer
--Rowe-Adams-Gooch
-McKennie-Williams
Villafana-Miazga-Brooks-Yedlin
----Horvath

Then toss in a Josh Sargent sub in the 70th minute.

I actually suspect it's pretty close to what you'll see. I'd be shocked, though, if Bedoya doesn't start. I can't imagine they called him and he won't be the captain/CAM.

Ream might get the nod somewhere on the backline as well.

Also lack of wing options. Why not call in Brooks Lennon and Haji Wright? What this tells me is that we will see your standard 4-4-2 formation with Dave Sarachan.

That's true, Bedoya as the CAM is effective. If Ream plays that would irritate me given our CB depth we need to see; Brooks is a veteran on our backline already, Yedlin and Villa too, time for new players in that backline.

Is Ream there to test out Sargent

"if you can score on him through a lobbed ball that went over his head in training... then you're good for Concacaf qualification into world cup"

I'm asking for a friend named Danilo Acosta.

If Ream starts, I think he's paired with Brooks. But we better see CCV and Miazga.

Ramirez should have called up. None of those CF options deserve it over Ramirez.

+1000

I already knew this was going to be a disappointing roster. Hopefully, Agudelo will be at RW (where he should've been developed as).

Interesting 2/3 keepers are struggling. Horvath has been benched and Gonzalez did not have a strong finish. Who would Steffen replace? Wonder were Klinnsman falls on this list as well?

I think Hamid starts maybe gets the full game as he prepares for his January move.

I think of all of our up and coming options, Steffen has the most complete skill set, so I could see him replacing any of the three. But everyone is so close in overall ability that it could just be the keeper in the best form at the time the lineups are set.

I remember not too long ago that Cody Cropper was to be the heir apparent.
