I need to hear someone respond to my above post, because I am literally bugging out that this guy was our head scout.

I think you only have to look at his choices as our U-20 coach and our failed bid to make the 2011 U-20 World Cup to know all you need to about Rongen. In bold are players we have mentioned on this site within the past year

1 GK Zac MacMath
2 DF Gale Agbossoumonde
3 DF Zarek Valentin
4 DF Moises Hernandez
5 DF Perry Kitchen
6 MF Dillon Powers
7 MF Joseph Gyau
8 MF Sebastian Lletget
9 FW Conor Doyle
10 MF Kelyn Rowe
11 FW Bobby Wood
12 DF Šaćir Hot
13 DF Greg Garza
14 MF Amobi Okugo
15 DF Korey Veeder
16 MF Moises Orozco
17 FW Omar Salgado
18 GK Cody Cropper
19 DF Sebastien Ibeagha
20 FW Eder Arreola

From that list there is one starter for the USMNT and two players whom injuries have derailed. The rest, well...?

He grew up in Holland when everything was Cruyff, so every player get's compared to Cruyff

In my mind, I was still thinking of his stupid rant against JK after Costa Rica on BEIN tv.
I think we need a holistic change in USSF, from commentators//color analysts...

For the rest of my days I will never forget that in 2017 our head scout said that Lionel Messi just doesn't have a high soccer IQ and that's why he's just not a good national team soccer player.

I think he was showcased in Barcelona's tiki taka paradigm. He clearly went wherever he wanted to go and made plays worthy of a 10 while not being self centric. like he got the ball alot but he wasn't on the ball the whole time. He wasn't Riquelme. (before you thropw spears I love RIguelme).

But I don't think his movements show anything but intelligence. Argentina's problem is that they have the 7 of the best attackers in South America, but with Messi already in the lineup they need only 2 more of them. And in Higuain's case, someone who wasn't profligate. At the wrong times. If you decide to play Messi as a midfielder, with 3 additional attackers, well... then Messi isn't scoring and more than likely he's getting hockey assists.

Also, after Xavi, Iniesta, Spain has inherited Koke, Thiago, Isco etc wonderful midfielders. When was the last time you saw a replacement for Veron, even the worn out Mascherano, Cambiasso.. If Messi dedicates time to replicating their effectivity, which is basically advancing the ball from midifeld through vision or just slaloming. He's p robably only going to score tap in goals coming late in the box. Pretty hard to blame Messi for that. Also 3 finals while being the bus driver.

Messi plays much better than anyone else on the national team by far. And that is one talented national team. People that criticize him do not know what they are talking about.

I couldn't click on the link navi. I can't bear to read it.

He didn't seem to think Subotic was any good, either.

I'd like a South American manager who could coach us in the 2020 Copa, if it happens again. Somebody who could have us competing against Brazil.

Gulati's job should be split. There should be Technical Director to hire coaches and decide on development issues. Then a Finance Minister to deal with bids, money, etc. One takes soccer expertise, and the other takes financial expertise. It's rare to find those two strengths in one person (perhaps even impossible).

That is a great idea...that's the solution actually.

Bring in a TD to oversee the soccer side. Gulati moves out of his current role into a role specifically dealing with logistics and finances...win-win, everybody's happy.

Ronald Koeman is currently available...any thoughts? has had some managerial success but not sure he would mesh with our player pool.

I will add Dick Advocaat to this list as well.
