From what I have read on numerous boards and radio talk, Pareja (although qualified) may be better suited for the USMNT in his current position.

He has a track record of pumping out youth players at FC Dallas. Nobody can dispute that. And though that may seem good at first glance... the reality is that USSF is probably better off keeping him where he is - producing lots of good homegrown/youth players that feed into the USMNT pipeline. If he was the national team manager, that would not be the case. Clubs are instrumental in producing players, not the national team. If he became our manager, that pipeline could dry up.

I am not saying he does or that he is the best option but one thing the US can not do (or any business for that matter) is not promote someone deserving or capable because they are too good at their current level. That will halt growth or drive from others.

Never said I wanted Ramos for the USMNT for the n cry head coach. I have stated Porter could be a candidate, but not that I necessarily wanted him for the position. Scolari wouldn't be bad either.

We might not be in the upper tiers of international football, but we aren't in a position where we need to hire someone with a significant learning curve.

Thierry Henry has played in MLS, is respected by everyone in the pool including top players, could recruit dual nationals, believes in playing young players, has served as lead assistant on a team that reached WC Semis, believes in technical attacking football.
I trust him more than any MLS coach not named Tata.

Don't really care that Henry is "respected". He's got minimal management experience. Let him learn somewhere else.

Lol, what candidates are we considering that have won at the international level against world class teams?

For all the experience Bradley and Arena had, they had no
idea what they were doing. All of our managers have learned on the job.

At least Henry, can command the respect of our young studs when he speaks.

It doesn't take yrs of management experience to know that Trapp, Delgado, Roldan, Zardes aren't international quality.

It's debatable whether we will be making a "splash" hire, so I think the first point is irrelevant.

"Commanding the respect" of the younger guys is pretty irrelevant. Magic Johnson commanded respect, and he sucked as a coach.

Player pool selection is maybe 50% of the gig, and not even close being within the exclusive decision making of the head coach. Henry has limited experience in management at any level.

@cudevil. If we are not considering someone with his pedigree and reputation, I'd like an explanation from the federation. Experience doesn't matter as much as an understanding of tactics and player development.

If we bring in Berhalter or Porter and they play our top players out of position, with far inferior support, in formations that they are skeptical of, or picking and playing guys based off pure bias, I could see the locker room being lost again.

Before we can talk tactics, playing style, chemistry, leadership, we've gotta get the player evals right. No coaching can compensate for lack of talent. Again, experience unless it's experience winning at a high level is irreevant.
