Sorry to disappoint guys but we can just table this discussion. Brian Kleiban, savior of American soccer, says Antonee Robinson isn't cut out for the national team...ARob, we hardly knew ye

https://youtu.be/XkjQNpVioPM (about 2:30 in)

Kobe Hernandez-Foster just signed with Wolfsburg and has 114 USL minutes, cap him now!!!

That dude is a clown. If a player can't be in the mold of Marcelo or Alaba, then he's got no place on the USMNT is 8 types of stupid. I'm also not aware of too many systems where the left back ends up moving into central midfield. Lastly, apparently, for a left back, being able to get stuck in on the tackle or cover a lot of ground on the wing are low on the list of desirable characteristics.

It's been an entertaining series from kleiban for sure. While not a clown (he coached a few of these guys we love so much) his opinions have to be taken with a grain of salt. Opinions are just that as long as someone backs it up with logic, even if you disagree with their premise, they have a valid opinion. I think he's underselling Robinson just like he's done in the past with Reyna and Pulisic. We all have done it and will do it again. As long as it's in good taste and someone is just giving their opinion that's all it should be. And I'm sure Antonee has heard those types of criticisms before.

Oh, I agree cudevil. There's just a venn diagram out there of people on this board who highly value Kleiban's opinion and who are also really disappointed that Antonee Robinson hasn't gotten more time with the Nats. They've got to pick a side on this one or do some serious mental gymnastics.

Personally, I'm all for calling in Robinson and giving him every opportunity to lock down the LB spot for us.

There are a lot soccer podcasters who swear by Hernandez-Foster. I want to see this kid as a pro first before making any opinions about him. I still think George Bello has a high ceiling. I hope we have a very good problem at LB in the future on who to pick and start.

I think there will be very good options in the near future and long term.

His takes are clownish. Most national team set ups struggle at LB. If Robinson ends up starting in the Prem or a similar level league, the idea that he isnt good enough for the USMNT is utterly laughable.

With Kleiban it is his personal stake that makes his views less credible that he doesn't disclose. I am willing to bet that he will promote Kobe Hernadez Foster at left back for USMNT in his follow up podcast to this latest.

Also, I look at what he says versus his actions. He says need to grow the sport here. So what does he and his bro do? They sell players to Wolfsburg. But his line from LA Galaxy is about to run dry so it will be interesting to see what players he finds over the next few years.

Kleiban could be the Jerry Maguire of football or the Don King of football. But I am guessing threefourthree isn't do so well at the moment because he isn't promoting it like he used to. It will be interesting to see what happens with Uly, Kobe and Kayo. But I would really like Brooks to stay at Wolfsburg to give those kids some guidance.

The problem with Kleiban is he contradicts himself.
He says pedigree doesn't matter but he only praises guys at top euro clubs.
Then he says Antonee doesn't have the right profile when he's not considering that we don't have a closer fit to the profile or top level of play than Antonee.

How does he know more about rating players than AC Milan and Leicester city lol?

What I wonder is whether he has seen Robinson play at all outside of the times with the Nats, because, admittedly, those were some rough outings. That was also as a 21 or 22 year old that hadn't been playing consistently for a couple of seasons like now.

I'm pretty sure a guy who has coached the guys like Mendez, Llanez, Efra, Araujo, etc and against many of the same players in the pool has a good handle on what these kids can do or not do. I also think he said it'll get people upset that when we are good enough we will have players who don't fit stylistically. He also has pled ignorance on guys like Charlie Kelman and so I just don't think he watches enough lower league English football. I also think this segment has been done in the vein of what do we need to move forward rather than stay the same. I still advocate for Robinson who should have the first chance to prove he can do it- kleiban and haters be damned.

Reports from Milan are that they are looking for a backup for Theo this summer, along with a young CB, attacking midfielders, a right winger, and an understudy for Zlantan. Not sure Antonee would want to be a back...but it is Milan tho.

Right now it appears as though he will be staying in England but moving up to the Premier League with Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder would be an excellent manager for a young defender to play under. I don't care if he doesn't start right away. There's so many games and not everyone is going to stay healthy. Enda Stevens is a solid Irish international. Competition is good for everyone.

I'm in the same boat, I've seen him play for the academy and he looked really good, raw, but the skill is defiantly there. I just don't know if he can hang with the pros, some people talk about him and make it seem like he's the best LB prospect for some time and that he could start for a pro team now. I'm still not sold, especially after Wolfsburg brought him in for their u19s instead of the second team. It appears he need more work. Time will tell.
