Could be USSF to cheap to spring for an international ticket. Similar to USSF not buying out GB contract. I am dubious over some of his selections as well. But he seems to be more willing recently to go younger. Uly and Ferrira as examples. Be interesting to see his next roster selection.

Off topic

USSF has lost $30 million from the pandemic. They were at $150 million reserves but the pandemic brought them down to $40 million. USSF would've gone bankrupt if the women's lawsuit happened. I think they recouped A good amount $$$ back from the government bailout.

.
My concern is that the Gregg's recent inclusion of younger options like Uly & Ferreira had more to do with what was the pending Olympic Qualifying Tournament and less to do with any belief that they were better options than some of the more veteran/experienced players.
Whenever the next FIFA window turns out to be, it will hopefully tell us if Gregg is actually looking to move forwards with the best available players or if there is something else going on behind scenes. If the like of Lovitz, Trapp, Roldan, Baird, Ream, Bradley, etc... are part of the camp, than we fans should have serious questions about Gregg's ultimate objective.

I agree. I also hope they allow more players into the camp as this years camps impacted by Covid.

I'd like to see Weston at a club in the premier league. It feels right and he's got the physical stature for it. Somewhere like a wolves or a Spurs or a Sheffield where his physical and technical play would combine. I don't think he's served being on relegation fodder nor do I think he's ready to be on an Arsenal type team where it's all about finesse. He's a power player all the way.

While I agree that none of us know what GB's depth chart is...past history has made me a little dubious about his player selections. Many of GB's past selections have shown a propensity to either rely on players he has experience with (through MLS) or players he believes have an experience edge over young players who were only just emerging with their clubs 1st teams.
For me, this was most notably demonstrated by his ignoring/overlooking the form of some of the more fringe players in leagues outside of MLS (Green, Alvarado, Morales, Weah, Miazga, CCV, etc...). Some of this may have been USSF's desire to drive some of these players towards the Olympics....but that would not account for those that were not age eligible for that competition who were arguably playing better than their MLS counter parts.
After the Farce that was the search & hiring process for our Head Coach...I think there are many fans who are wondering if there isn't some agenda in USSF to push/promote the use of MLS Players.
I guess we'll have to wait to find out what Gregg's thought process really is until the international games return.

I think a lot of his choices have been dictated by our numerous injury's and some Euro clubs not releasing players for nations league etc. If your familiar with MLS because that is where you coach and you walk into a disaster of a program with a load of angry fans. Then fielding players you are familiar with seems a sensible place to start. We are well beyond that now and he will hopefully continue to expand the player pool and move some deserving players up the depth chart.

I can understand that thought to a degree. The problem is when the fans are angry because of the players you are familiar with.

Adjustments caused because of injuries is understandable, but there were fewer examples of this happening than many would expect (Adams, Robinson, Holmes, Weah).
However, clubs not releasing players for "Nations League etc..." is not a viable justification since those games were on FIFA Dates and clubs are required to release players. These snubs were 100% on Gregg & USSF.
There was ample evidence of the talent/abilities of the Young European players through club game footage & the years worth of USMNT Games that Dave S. coached. The fact that Gregg continued to call-up the exact same players time after time even after many of them proved that they were unable to compete in CONCACAF competitions. That is on Gregg's faulty logic and player selection.

I agree with all of this. I think it's time to put a lot of the euro guys into the starting spots. I guess well see.

One thing to add...there us no more slow phase in of the youth coming through the ranks. Between the stupidity of the hiring process and COVID, we have basically lost 1+ years of friendlies, camps, etc. that MIGHT have justified a slow transition to the youth. Adding to that...who the hell knows when we will have friendlies again. Because our COVID response has been such a complete f**kshow, there a crap ton of teams that wouldn't play the MNT. Euro based players will likely skip any game played in the US for fear of not being able to get back their club (if there was even a flight out).

Maybe we can schedule CONCACAF and South American teams, but the international windows for the foreseeable future are boned. (And the same issues arise for the Euro based guys if we play in Mexico and pretty much anywhere in South America).

What is terrifying is that may give GB the excuse to use the same tired player pool. Stupid freaking virus.

The irony is this is the type of player Arsenal need...they are too soft.

If reports are true, a number of teams in the EPL are looking at him, including Liverpool and Chelsea, though I think the Chelsea link is just to try and raise the transfer fee a little higher.

You think Liverpool is more believable than Chelsea?

Schalke's management has stated that they plan to keep him because they cannot afford to go get better replacement players.

Yes I do. Liverpool's midfield is a lot older than Chelsea's and Chelsea have another youth product out on loan that is highly rated and is a similar player to WM.

WM fills other needs for Liverpool...a high profile USMNT player that could sell shirts in the US. Chelsea got a nice bump in the US market with CP and Liverpool could use the same post Covid shutdown.

Everyone has their price and if WM is motivated to move, this will happen.
