Just wanted to give some info, Fiorentina have signed Rafik Zekhnini. A highly sought after Norwegian midfielder/winger, no good for Josh Perez...

Lletget doesn't have it for AM in a 4-2-3-1, no way. He doesn't have the wheels necessary to push it in int'l soccer. He's a CM, one way or another.

I agree that Hyndmann is more of an 8 than a 10, but he is pretty good at making those crucial splitting passes in the final 3rd. IMO put him at the tip of a triangle midfield trio and I think he'd do well creating things.
Nagbe & Lletget could also play that CAM position if needed. So can Saief & Gooch from what I've heard/read. The versatility of these 4 players being able to play wide or centrally raises their standings within the player pool IMO. This is why I was so disappointed with the approach that USSF took for the GC. It would have been a perfect opportunity to integrate useful players....instead we get Pontious.

Nagbe and Lletget can probably play it, but I don't think it's their best position. For Nagbe, I see inverted winger in a 4-4-2 diamond to be his best fit, where he's allowed to roam inside a bit while the fullbacks provide width. Lletget strikes me more as an offensive-minded 8.

I really like what I've seen of Gooch as a winger and haven't personally seen him play the 10 much, but I've read he sees it as his best position. He played as a striker in Sunderland's first two preseason matches and did pretty well by all accounts. He's as faster or faster than Morris and has better touch, so I wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench as a speed option both at winger or at forward late in the match.

I really hope the USMNT uses the November FIFA window to play a couple friendlies in Europe so they can get a good look at Europe-based players like Gooch, Saief, Williams, and Miazga who may not make the final hex rosters but are solid possibilities for 2018 if they start the coming season well. Arena can use the January camp to take a final look at MLS options, so no more than a handful of them should play in November. After Camp Cupcake, all that will be left is a couple friendlies in March 2018 before the 30-man roster is set, then maybe a couple during the World Cup camp for a final look before choosing the 23.

Hopefully he gets loaned out to a lower table team or Serie B team. He needs to get some game minutes somewhere above U23 level this year

One name not mentioned is Kyle Scott. Yes, I know I bring him up a lot, but I think he will get first team experience this year out on loan (there is a rumor of him going to Celtic).

If Chris is going to rate McCarty as tier II, I believe Scott is as talented as McCarty is. With all the success that England has had at the youth level this summer it would appear that option for Scott may have gone away, leaving us and Ireland.

Everyone has a highlight video...here is Scott's

Oh, and Scott is on tour with Chelsea's first team in the Far East. They are bare bones at the moment in central midfield with one player wanting out, the new cm they bought recovering from knee op, and a number of English youth internationals getting a break after the Euros.

I'd be bummed if we can't get Cam at Dmid for the WC. MB needs to the 8.

If we have to roll with MB as the 6, which I'm not crazy about, then I'd go with Lletget as the 8 over anyone else...with puli at ACM.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gooch or de la Torre thrown into the mix for back up at ACM.

Yeah I agree, if a move was to happen I'd say Serie B is his best bet. Gonna be some tough competition on the wings with Bernadeschi, Chiesa, Hagi, and know Rafiq.. Would be great if Perez could beat some of those guys out tho..

Man if Scott could get a loan and some first team minutes that would be a boost for our midfield.

Still can't believe Tab didn't even give him a look..but I think tab doesn't like pure #10s.. He even left out Akale..whom was available and let's not forget his exclusion of Flores.. But Scott can play a box to box too so idk..

I might get crucified for saying it, but I liked what I saw from Gooch in the center of the pitch early last season pre-injury. He looked capable as a defensive Mid or box to box mid.

His tackling stood out to me, and with it being a position of need in the near future, i wouldn't mind seeing him there. I think he has no shot at a CAM spot with CP and other young midfielders, and I think there are better young wing options.

I would say D-Mid is our most desperate need. Hopefully more of our youth people will give that position a chance.

Really, over Full Back? Yedlin is the only quality prospect we've had in a few years and the youth pipeline doesn't look great.

I meant in terms of current players in pool. RB has Yedlin Lichaj and Chandler, LB has Fabian Lichaj Villafana and Garza. DM has Bradley and McCarty (Yikes) (Arena won't play Cameron or others there).
