I skipped him as a 4-3-3 F who'd play in the 3 in a 4-2-3-1.
I don't know his game well enough to say "yeah, he's also a middy".

Not based on what league they play in (don't care), just what I think works on the field for the Nats
Tier I
Pulisic, MB, potentially Cameron.....this would be my preferred spine in the middle
Tier I.5
Lletget, Nagbe, Fab
Tier II
McCarty, Zardes, Acosta, Arriola, potentially Saeif...
Tier II.5
Roldan, Rowe, Bedoya
Lot of young guys...Adams, D Jones, McKinnie, De la Torre
He's not there yet but the guy to watch out for is Jackson Yueill. Doing great things for the Quakes now in their 3-5-2. The comparisons to a young pre injury Stu are legit...he's a phenomenal passer.

How anyone rates a 19 yr old first team player in Bundesliga the same as MLS and Championship players of the same age the same level blows my mind

Dial that back man. Your hardcore takes are starting to get exhausting.
A 'tier' is not the same as 'is exactly as good as'.
I think Pulisic's on a tier by himself, as do you, but chris thinks about it differently.

Yeah, I'm just approaching Tier I as it relates to the nats as 100% essential midfield lock starter. I'm not comparing Puli's skill level 1 v 1 with MB or anyone else.
Of course now I'll have to debate MB as essential...haha. I still maintain MB between Cameron and Pulisic would be pretty damn good.
But I sure someone will tell me their midfield of three 18 year old #10s would be way better up the spine at the WC.

How Williams didn't make tier 1.5 - I just won't know @chris. He's better than Lletget and Nagbe for my money, let alone Acosta or McCarty. I'm assuming you forgot him just like Bruce Arena has. His ability to play the midfield is right up there with Bradley, Cameron and Johnson.
I think against better teams I would have Pulisic below the striker in a 4-2-3-1 with Cameron and Brooks in defense and Bradley and Williams in the midfield with Williams farther forward.
--- Pulisic --
Bradley - Williams
Brooks - Cameron
That's a decent spine, all of those guys can pass and cover ground. I think it's the best we have.

The start of the European season is going to have significant importance for determining the depth options for the USMNT under Bruce.
1) Williams - New club, New Coach, New League. If he hits the ground running putting in positive performances than I can't see how Arena could leave him out of the discussion. EPL players seeing consistent minutes are still few & far between for the US, and cannot be overlooked unless there's some kind of personality conflict.
2) Gooch, Saief, Green - We need options on the Wing. If these 3 can can show positive performances they'll be in contention for back-up rolls. Especially considering how poor the GC players performed.
3) Hyndman could be that back-up to CP in the hole behind the forward(s). He'll need to get healthy and then show his worth is higher than Corona. I wasn't all that impressed with Joe so think there is still an open challenge between Corona, Hyndman & Saief.
4) The situations with Miazga & CCV could play a role in deciding the back-ups for the CB's, but it may be a case of too little to late.

Can we stop abbreviating Christian Pulisic 'CP'?
kthx
Benny and Lee are not international caliber players. They are old too, we need to keep riding Acosta.

GD10, IF we want to run a formation with a real AM, then we need Pulisic and a backup. That backup for 2018 might be Nguyen, to my way of thinking, or it might be Agudelo. It might be a few others, but it can't be a #8 trying to play like he's a #10 in a 4-2-3-1 or we are going to lose, lose, lose.

Lee Nguyen is 30.
World Cup i s literally next year. We're not trying to groom Nguyen for the future. We need plays today. Much like Rowe was making plays, much like Nagbe will be making plays in the near future.
I don't get why we feel we need to groom 23 year olds. Acosta is literally the starter and against B level talent he's showing that he MAY not be up to speed, at this point. To me it should have been Acosta in the Rowe spot. Getting acclimated in reduced personnel squads, getting time off the bench.
Rowe's speed right now is literally intl level, he makes every play quickly. He doesn't have the skill of Nguyen, or even Acosta, but the fact that he thinks quicker than our midfielder these past few games has made the contributions to our scores.
Feilhaber was a player intl level, Bradley JK successively decided against him. Cest la vie. I contend that Valdivia wouldn't play for us. We want 10's that look like wingers or Forwards because it suits the more direct style.

1) Williams - agree, but he is joining a new team. he will get minutes, whether he is a regular starter is a different story.
2) Agree, but if he returns to almost full form, Lletget will be in the conversation here too.
3) I see Hyndmann as more of an 8 than a 10.
4) I think both will be out on loan this year. I would suspect Miazga will get a Championship loan this year...probably the same for CCV. It would not be surprising to see CCV used as a DM for his loan club. Mentioning that, if Spurs take Man U's money for Dier I could see CCV possibly getting PL minutes for Spurs.

I agree that Hyndmann is more of an 8 than a 10, but he is pretty good at making those crucial splitting passes in the final 3rd. IMO put him at the tip of a triangle midfield trio and I think he'd do well creating things.
Nagbe & Lletget could also play that CAM position if needed. So can Saief & Gooch from what I've heard/read. The versatility of these 4 players being able to play wide or centrally raises their standings within the player pool IMO. This is why I was so disappointed with the approach that USSF took for the GC. It would have been a perfect opportunity to integrate useful players....instead we get Pontious.
