Also, in the first five minutes a Nicaraguan player fouled a US player and the ref awarded a free kick. No problem, the ref got it right and the game continues except that AO started chanting "You can't do that! clap, clap, clap, You can't do that! clap, clap, clap."

JUST STOP IT! The lack of creativity is an embarrassment for our National Team and all of us as US fans. That's probably the dumbest chant I've ever heard. Why would anyone think that this was a good idea?

Yep.
You said it, the guys on TSS said it, maybe one of the on-air guys said it, and I thought it.
It's a super-lame college soccer chant from like 15-20 years ago. Who here is in AO?
Please do something about that!!

If the reports on the reinforcements are true this is what I think we'll see:
Howard in, Guzan out
Gonzalez in, Johnson out
Bradley in, bedoya out (wife is reportedly having a baby next week)
Nagbe in, Pontus out
Jozy in, agudelo out
Dempsey in, corona out

I think we'll see a shift to a 4-4-2 with the following:

Jozy-deuce
Rowe-Bradley-Acosta-nagbe
Villafana-besler-miazga-lichaj
Howard

I can assure you we will see an insane thing happen, and my guess the insane thing will be Rowe ejected and Nagbe in his place while "but he looks good in practice and is a locker room guy!" Pontius will remain. Or perhaps Lichaj will be taken out because "did you see that cross from Zusi, forgot everything else, he's such a good locker room guy! we don't need another RB!" and another player completely unrelated will come in.

Observations from the game:

1) Stu Holden is good at tactical analysis during the game, however, he and Donovan are so utterly biased toward players/coach they know personally, it is frustrating. I'd rather hear objective people calling these games.
2) This Gold Cup is a black mark on my opinion of Bruce Arena.
3) Zusi is a god awful RB. So many errors were made by him yesterday against one of the weakest teams in the entire world. Yedlin always has the chance of being injured or being suspended for a single game at the 2018 WC, the chance of a backup needing to play is high. God help us if Arena foolishly thinks Zusi could ever play well against a powerhouse team, they will rape that side of the pitch all game.
4) Pontius is not international caliber, this should be clear. If Arena can't see that......it's preposterous.
5) Rowe was the most important revelation of this tourney. And then he gets subbed out. I can't anymore.
6) Bedoya playing better at CAM vs outside midfield was an already well known fact about bedoya. The point of the past was that there were multiple players ahead of him at CAM. Bedoya is NOT a versatile player given his performances at outside midfield almost always is poor and unneccesary given there's always a better option in our pool. Bedoya is also not a leader, you have to be kidding.
7) Miazga, still nothing known because Nicaragua is one of the worst teams in the world.
8) Villafana, I don't believe for a second this guy is the answer at LB. Should be Fabian #1, Lichaj/Garza #2.
9) Corona doesn't do it for me.
10) Dwyer should have been much, much better against some of the worst defenders/teams in the world. All told at this moment, I'd put Morris slightly higher than Dwyer, and Morris is in a rough patch right now, just wait till Morris gets back his form...
11) McCarty getting his pocket picked so easily against this absolute shit team speaks volumes about his quality. We need to see Danny Williams. And eventually McKinnie. Hell, even Jermaine Jones over McCarty. And of course Geoff Cameron at DM.

It's all subjective, but overall, for me, this Gold Cup is black mark on Bruce Arena as a coach.

@navi8132 I agree with everything but Morris over Dwyer. I think Dwyer is technically better in the box, more quality, smarter runs

Didn't show it much versus Nicaragua.......and there was no reason he shouldn't have versus that terrible team.

But I think these young strikers in Europe offer more than both.
Boyd (not really a young player, injury proned)
Green (needs to get stronger and tougher)
Wright (has the measurables and club pedigree)
Korenik (I've seen highlights that look Griezman esque)

I mean, Bedoya should stay over Pontius, and I don't want to see Bedoya out wide either.

I'd predict that a Dempsey-Altidore start vs CR or Mex would lose us the game, but CRC and MEX look like crap, too.

I read Bedoya's wife is expecting next week. Sure that is why he was allowed to leave and why Pontious is staying.

By brining in five experienced vets, Bruce is clearly indicating that he wants to win the tournament. So why the hell would he send home Kellyn Rowe, the lone bright spot from the group stage. I don't get it.

I think it's because Rowe's not enough of a 2 way player, his defense is underwhelming. To that I say, Bruce, your team's offense as a whole has been underwhelming, and now you have taken out 2 of the most effective tools in your offense this tourney.
