Everyone knew Brooks was injured, just like we all know Michael Bradley is mediocre and shouldn't start every fucking game. Dude is garbage.

Oh yeah gotta double check my grammar. Any mistake or typo is a soccer nerds wet dream.

How about everyone post their pic up here so I can laugh out loud!

Chandler... does that dude even want to play for us the last thing we need seeing last night is less passionate player representing the country? All I know and Im sure alot would agree is Tim Ream... this should be his last call up. The dude has gone to Europe and hasnt improved its no wonder he has 0 premier league interest.
If Weston and D.Williams can actually play more minutes then they should be looked at. Nagbe shouldnt be a CM.

We are still arguing over players, and will going into the Honduras game. But outside of a select few our technical ability is still just above average and it showed trying to break down Costa Rica. The best chance was Altidore from a long pass up the middle from Cameron. Our midfield in the center was poor. Some want to blame Fabian but maybe just once he could play with better midfielders and look at the result. Maybe you all are right and so let's plug the hole with Bedoya...

No Altidore so what do we get? A 4-2-3-1?? Wood up top alone seems like a recipe for disaster but I guess we will see. My guess:

Wood
Nagbe Pulisic Arriola
Bradley Acosta
Beasley Besler Omar Zusi
Guzan

I'd personally like to see Johnson for Nagbe, Bedoya for Acosta, and Cameron for Omar in the above formation which I think Bruce will use.

Board is melting down.
haha

Those of you who think Ream 'sucks' as opposed to 'is competent but not good' sound like 15 year-olds. Scapegoating him for last night is just... not understanding the sport.

Hercules Gomez and Keller got it right: we played like pansies, top to bottom (and then Dempsey and Altidore over-reacted when it didn't matter anymore). We had 3 fouls in the first half. They had 8 plus the ones not called (at least 3). So probably 3 or 4 of those 8 were on Puli. We got bossed.
Add to that the lack of switching like MSAntoine said, and the lack of off-the-ball running (like nobody checking to the player getting swarmed, as one example) and that's GG.

It sounds like the 'great morale' going into this match was the wrong kind of 'great morale'.

The only one of those guys you mentioned who is starting is Chandler. All of them will or could be starting soon, but none are. They are not match fit for 90.

The only one of those guys who might help in the match up issues against CR, is D Will due to his size. However he has played 30 minutes since his transfer.

So far we have seen McKennie in about 30 minutes of division 1 soccer. He was not ready for that game.

Gooch has played significant minutes against a League 1 opponent in the English Cup. What says bring him in right now.

Does Chandler even want to come and play in the US. I question that, he never shows up. Besides Zusi was far from the problem. Do not want him out there, but at least he worked his tail off.

Miazga was not ready to go 90, he still would not have started over Cameron. And nobody in their right mind would pick him over Cameron before that game started.

That was a man's game out there last night. One team knew their roles, stayed in formation, executed, and looked confident.

We had nobody out there who could be a disrupter to that style. Who will work hard but not scared to take a hit or give one if needed. One of them is to old in Beckermann and the other is in horrible form in Zardes. For everything that Beckermann is not we need that player who is an enforcer in CONCACAF. Zardes just works his ass off and has the ability to use his power and speed to disrupt Costa Rica, but is playing like garbage in LA. Dempsey is that guy too. He is not a two game starter any longer, but for this one he was needed for the grit he can provide. Bet he starts against Honduros.

I hope last night was a wake up call. This team has put in a few good performances since Coach Bruce took over, but some really poor ones too (in the victories against some of these CONCACAF minnows). They need to realize that you might be able to get away with that against Martinique, but not Costa Rica. We were firing on all cylinders in 2013-14, but we haven't been able to recover that form since. And now it's getting a little late.

I'm not worried at all about finishing fourth. Asia is the worst footballing continent (apart from Oceania), and unless we get really unlucky and draw Australia, we'll most likely face Syria or Saudia Arabia. But Panama should beat T&T at home, and San Sula is a difficult place to play. If we play like we did last night and lose, we'll be outside of the qualification zone with two games to play. It sets up a must win against Panama in the following game. Panama's last game is at home to a Costa Rica team that will have already secured qualification, so if we don't beat them, we probably won't be on the plane to Russia.

I can't remember the US ever being in danger of not qualifying for WC in my life time. I don't even want to think about it.

@dolcem - As someone who remembers the days of not qualifying for the WC and then the massive turn of the tide where we were topping the hex, it is hard to imagine not making it to Russia. That said the performances lately from our team have not been Encouraging. Ever since the they owned Honduras at home there hasn't been much of a fire in the players or the team.
I've questioned Arena's player selection every bit as harshly as those made by Jurgen. I still don't understand the inclusion of players like Wondo, McCarty, Rimando, etc...or the exclusion of Williams, Chandler, Horvath, etc... All coaches have those players that they seem to favor, but when Bruce was hired I worried that he'd hold onto players beyond their usefulness.
If we don't win in Honduras things are going to become very difficult. Panama is not a pushover and have learned to frustrate their opponents, so there is no Guarantee in that game. Than away to T&T where we'll have to deal with their questionable field conditions. It's going to come down to the wire, but we should still qualify as long as we can pick up 3 pts on 9/5.

If we don't win in Honduras, we may as well fire Arena. Everything about the last game was unforgivable: the roster, the XI, the formation, the team mentality.

Johnson for Nagbe? No. Johnson has been out right terrible. Nagbe is arguably the second best player on the team.

Second best? He doesn't see open players. I usually agree with you but Nagbe doesn't do anything for me offensively.

The best example of this is shown in Johnson's pass out of the back to the right flank, Nagbe would not have seen this pass. I agree Johnson is better at seeing open players but he does not need to be anywhere near the attack right now. Outside back overlapping is his best bet, but it does not need to be Nagbe out there either. I think Arriola goes out there to help stretch the back line. We know Honduras is going to bunker and we've shown we don't have the mids capable of running a two mid system. 3-5-2

Dempsey

Morris Pulisic Zusi

Bradley

Fabian Besler Cameron Lijac

WE can't wait to bring Dempsey on if we are down a goal, we need to score the 1st goal.

If we do, in the 60th or so we an take Dempsey off and throw altidore in and bring nagbe in for morris.

Im not a zusi guy but he can cross the ball and frankly he looked good vs CR. we need the field to be wide so we can spread them out once they park the bus. the other side gives us some speed on the flanks wirth morris

I really don't like Nagbe not being on the field say what you want about his vision the guy can hold the ball and doesn't have a led touch

If bruce had balls he would put cameron in Bradleys spot, and I guess put gonzo or hedges in the back.

If you watched the last game cameron while he had a bad game he was at times pushing forward while bradley sat 3 inches from him. You could see the aggravation in his body language-he can play dmid at this point better than bradley but this will never happen

bottom line we need 3 points--
