And judging by that beer gut he had in the March friendly and his form in the MLS at that point, this guy was not fit to play 90 at the international level.
Twellman, Lalas, these guys are right. The USNT is too soft. And LD is the epitome of that mentality. The one American player that was actually really naturally talented and he didn't even want to play competitive soccer. And people excused him for it, because it was OK for him to be "a big fish in a small pond" or live close to home or something. Bradley and Altidore are the softies of this generation, and they cost us the World Cup. Had they played the way they did when they were in Europe, we would be going to Russia.
