I'm going with Horvath.

Horvath is definitely the future of US goalkeeping at the moment.

Ludovic Butelle was the undisputed starter at Brugge last year, but his resume isn't all that impressive, and Horvath looks to be the #2 (their other keeper has only like 40 games in 5 years at the senior level). What if something happens to Butelle (an injury, poor run of form) and Horvath takes over? Would he then deserve a shot at the NT? I'm ready to move on from Howard.

Horvath took his job at the end of last year. The coach switched from Butelle to Horvath with their season on the line (during their complicated playoff portion of their season. If the coach was willing to switch to a young goalie who they just brought over at the most crucial part of the season last year I would think horvath should be considered the favorite to start right out of the shoot.

Horvath has started for Brugge in both the UCL Qualifier last week (gave up 3 goals in a 3-3 away draw) and in their first game of the year (clean sheet even though they played down a player for 60'). Its clear the job is his to lose. Brugge is always in the hunt for the title with Anderlect, Gent, Genk. It would be cool to see him lead Brugge to a championship.

That would raise the bar as I dont think an American has won a league as good as Belgian League (8-10 in Euro depending on personal preference)

Yeah I forgot about those playoffs. I saw that Butelle had started every league and Champions League game last season and figured he was the starter but Horvath played in their CL qualifier the other day, so that's a very good sign.

It should give Coach Bruce a lot to think about. But I can't see him shaking things up that much and benching someone as iconic as Howard, certainly not for a kid like Horvath.

I agree. I think Hovath is more about knocking off Guzan for 2022 cycle. If he plays well this whole year, and in 18/19 he should be inline for a big move in 2019 and then stake claim to be #1 before the next gold cup
