We have gotten to see the depth of the squad, and will see what the "b team" does tomorrow vs Cuba. All eyes on the final as we will play Costa Rica or Mexico this weekend. Even the subs have looked competent and make solid runs. I'm just seeing a higher grade of player than has previously been on the u17 team.

Totally agree. When you have a guy like Weah not even make the starting lineupp you're trending in the right direction

Also, a couple months in their lives right now makes a world of difference. Weah can go back to PSG, play a couple games towards the end of the season and literally be a totally different player, with more confidence, more willingness in his technique. A better player. Breeding competition within our ranks, I'm excited.

Also the Euro U17 Championship is testing a new proposal regarding shootouts in tourneys. Instead of having one team shoot first and one shoot second every round they are testing alternating 1st kicker in each round.

So if US and Mex were tied and going to shootout instead of every round having US kick first and Mexico being second it would go as follows:
Round 1: US then Mex
Round 2 Mex then US
Round 3 US then Mex
Round 4 Mex than US
Round 5 US then Mex.

Its a very different idea and potentially has some issues (kicking twice in a row can be huge). Will be curious if it comes up and if so how its received

This team cruised through everyone. Will be interesting to see them matched against World cup opponents. The only concern is the back line at times can turn off other then that the attack is deadly with Sargent.

Was there anyone missing in this tourney?

Yeah, pretty obvious one. But so is other stuff like reviewing silly conduct and yellow cards and red cards, etc. after the games to cut out the bullshit. . .

Durkin is a brick wall,
Carleton & Sargent are good players, Carletons vision is especially good.
Ferri is quick.
Everyone else is pretty well rounded.
Just some thoughts from this U-17 team so far vs Mexico

that field is garbage... both teams struggling at times with it. Should have not played on that pitch. Nothing new with the last time Panama and USA played

Silver lining is they'll come to U-17 WC with chip on shoulder. If they won every game in this tourn, might have gotten cocky.

Bummer. Nice goal by Carleton and I thought Garces had himself a game.

Sargent and Goslin both had good chances to put the game out of reach. Not sure who Vasquez thought he was marking on the equalizer but they're 16 year olds so it happens.

Why was the goal from Mexico disallowed early in the second half? Looked like a clean goal to me.

We technically tied Mexico. PKs dont count when looking at results. Yes Mexico get the championship but anyone who watched any of the games/highlights can clearly see US was the best team all tourney and finished undefeated (5W-1D-0L)
