Didn't see anyone post this so I thought I should. What do you think of the U17 roster for the tournament? This team looks very strong attacking.

GOALKEEPERS (2): Carlos Joaquim Dos Santos (Benfica; Philadelphia, Pa.), Justin Garces (Kendall SC; Miami, Fla.)

DEFENDERS (5): Christopher Gloster (New York Red Bulls; Montclair, N.J.), Jaylin Lindsey (Sporting Kansas City; Charlotte, N.C.), James Sands (New York City FC; Rye, N.Y.), Arturo Vasquez (FC Golden State; Mira Loma, Calif.), Akil Watts (IMG Academy; Fort Wayne, Ind.)

MIDFIELDERS (7): George Acosta (Weston FC; Hollywood, Fla.), Taylor Booth (Real Salt Lake AZ; Eden, Utah), Christopher Durkin (D.C. United; Glen Allen, Va.), Blaine Ferri (Solar Chelsea SC; Southlake, Texas), Christopher Goslin (Atlanta United FC; Locust Grove, Ga.), Indiana Vassilev (IMG Academy; Savannah, Ga.), Adrian Villegas (Portland Timbers; Hood River, Ore.)

FORWARDS (6): Ayomide Akinola (Toronto FC; Brampton, Ont.), Andrew Carleton (Atlanta United FC; Powder Springs, Ga.), Zyen Jones (Atlanta United FC; Clarkston, Ga.), Bryan Reynolds, Jr. (FC Dallas; Little Elm, Texas), Joshua Sargent (Scott Gallagher Missouri; O'Fallen, Mo.) Timothy Weah (Paris Saint-Germain; Rosedale, N.Y.)

A lot of good attacking talent. Defense is a bit weak.

Tourney starts today. US has their first game on sunday.

Will be quite challenging for USA. They changed the format to be the same as U20s with the 3 groups of 4, top 2 advance to next round where it s a 3 team round robin.

Only difference is US wasnt seeded for the three groups and got put in a group with Mexico. We play Mexico 2nd of 3 games so really need a good result vs Jamaica or we could be in trouble in the finale vs El Salvador.

Also winning the group could be huge as our group winner gets the other two group 2nd places and our 2nd place gets the other 2 groups winners. Other groups are very unbalanced (Panama(Host), Honduras, Haiti, Curacao & Costa Rica, Canada, Suriname, Cuba) so Costa Rica will asuredly win its group and getting Canada or Cuba in the final grouping is almost a guarantee to advance to world cup

I really hope this won't end up being something where we start off with a 4-3-3, do poorly, and then end up in a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 when reality finally sets in.

Ya, the US should be up at least 3-0 at half. I hope the poor execution in the final 3rd does not come back to bite us. We really need to score a quick goal when the 2nd half starts to keep them from thinking they have a chance.

So impressed with the vision and movement of Josh Sargent - he knows how to play that main striker role where sometimes he drops, sometimes he gets in behind. Class player with his mental game.

USA wins 5-0. Should all but guarentee advancing to next round as they'll win most tie breakers. Weah came on as a 2nd half sub and scored to make it 2-0. Then an akinoka brace and Sargent goal all late made it a blowout. Next match vs Mexico in 3 days.

Jamaica beat El Salvador so that means if USA wins tonight they clinch 1st in the group as they'd have the tie breakers. Winning the group will be huge as either Cuba or Suriname will be runner up in group B so winning our group pretty much guarentees qualifying for the World Cup.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
