I guess we'll all have to agree to disagree. I've said my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I think Bradley has been very poor since the beginning of 2014, and I don't think I'm the only one who thinks so. This was before he was switched to the #10. That's what can happen to you as a player when you step in to a less competitive league. #justsaying

quick take, hot take

Can you add Jones to that?
He's done. He should not make any more rosters.

He's looking like a C- MLS midfielder lately, no matter how much he rants and raves, and despite what he's done for the Nats on younger legs.

I like Jones as a bench player, because I think he's a really important presence in the locker room (a dual-national with a die-hard commitment to the team). But yeah, he's getting past it. Point is we need to be looking at other CM's to replace these guys, and as I said in the other thread, if Diskerud plays well this year, I think he should at least be in the conversation.

Forwards: Wood, Dempsey (Morris, Jozy)
Wingers: Pulisic, Fabian (Arriola, Nagbe)
****CM: Player X, Player Y, (Backup 1,2)
LB, RB: Villafaña (Garza), Yedlin (Chandler)
CBs: Brooks (Ream), Cameron (Gonzo)
K: Howard (Guzan)

****After Beckerman has finished playing, and Jones is close to done, and Bedoya as well- if Bradley was replaced that would be all four. It's a major rebuilding job compared to the rest of the team above.

I'd put our four CM like this: Bradley, Williams (Acosta, Hyndman)

After this round of qualifying in June I look for Dempsey to become a bench player. Would not be surprised to see him as a bench player in the T&T game and starting in Mexico. With that game being earlier than the normal turn around between games you could see two vastly different line ups in the starting 11.

Yeah, as a Galaxy fan who now watches him every game, I'm finally ready to offiicially declare that Jones is done from USMNT. And not sure about him as a bench player - I could see him having a fit because he's not on the field. Bruce would have to ask him if that role is OK, if he were to lose his starting spot.

Or else you gotta just thank him for his service, apologize on behalf of Juergy for not getting his role right wrt MB, congratulate him as one of the best USMNT players of all time (a leg break away from possibly being THE best).

You're saying 2010? His muscle hairline crack?

That would have been interesting, if he would have been there instead of Clark. But then it would have been left to Bob to find out how best to fit them in a formation. Or how he would have fit into a 4 4 2.

Jones would never agree to a sub role. His ego and self importance puts him in an altered reality.

The fact that he doesn't understand it's not important what he did in Champions league. It is only important what he can currently bring to the nats in a specific role that Arena may or may not give him.

Imo, it's an all or none proposition. Arena either goes all in on JJ or he's not part of the mix.

His ego won't allow him to watch, in his mind, an inferior player take his minutes.

For my money Lletget when healthy would be a great candidate in the middle.

There was a play he made while playing for LA where he made lung busting 60 yard sprint just to have a glimmer of a chance to make a stop on a breakaway...which he eventually did in miraculous fashion. The awareness, dedication and heart he showed was nats level commitment...blew me away...Holden level stuff. I knew he was solid as an attacker but never knew he had that level of determination on the defensive side... I think he would be a great replacement for Jones.

Can't give Klinsman any props for WC when he picked Wondo over LD, started Beckman, and didn't bring a replacement for Jozy'.

+1000

This guy bjelks is legit !

I was cool with the Green inclusion

Donovan for Davis
Boyd for Wondo.

AND why was beckerman even there, let alone starting ?

Very short term Cameron, long term maybe Acosta, Adams or Lletget..maybe Hyndman. It will depend on the type of player we need...if it's for his current role, kind of 6/8 hybrid or a straight 6 or straight 8 type player. I have high hopes Lletget will have the skill set and mentality to cover for MB...either in the 6/8 hybrid role...definitely as a straight 8. I like Roldan a lot also. I like Jackson Yueill. There are a lot of players with potential. It will come down to who's mentally the strongest with a solid grip on the tactical aspects of the game and the required speed and technical ability to succeed on the international level.

Ultimately, I'm looking for a couple players that have the ability to be invited to play in Serie A....that's the level we need to replace MB and move the team ahead.

I'll throw out Canouse before he gets completely forgotten about. Played a good amount of games this year and could potentially get some good run next year in the bundesliga. I'm waiting for one of him or perhaps Caleb Stanko to make a step up and start in the first divisions in Germany next year.

I actually think Bradley's role is the easiest to replace. All we need is a guy who can track back, receive the ball from defenders, and get it to Pulisic or Nagbe. You just need a guy who has some quicks to recover, and can make sound passes. I dont see why Hyndman, Acosta, and a littany of others cant fill that role. People have this picture of Bradley flying all over the place and making jaw dropping defensive plays. He doesnt do that anymore. Now that we have defenders (Brooks, Cameron, Yedlin) that can pass out of the back and not just boot and chase (Besler, Gonzalez, Beasley) we are in a much better place.

Lol, my point exactly on Bradley is that he's the easiest player to replace on the field and has the most competition for the role,

However, I see Hyndman and Lttetget as more of attacking mids and Acosta and Williams as defensive mids.
