I watched LD in his first season with the Quakes when he came from Germany. I think he was 18 or 19. Imo, Pulisic is an overall more complete player at a comparable age. Mentally very consistent and mature...that wasn't exactly the case with LD early on...he would turn it off and on...tune out a bit...fade in and out of games.

There are a lot similarities though, the speed of thought, vision, quickness, passing ability and finishing are almost identical.

The two biggest differences are Pulisic is a better dribbler in tight space and he is much stronger and heavier on the ball in challenges and more gritty defensively...no fear of slamming into bigger players. His game is more suitable to also play him centrally.

Totally agree. Pulisic quicker, stronger on the ball, great 1 v 1. Lando a better passer, faster. It's hard (somewhat incompatible? - yeah, yeah, cue the list of exceptions. . .) to be a great passer AND be great 1 v 1 (in any sport).

LD didn't dribble really, he would pass and run into space and leave people in the dust. Totally different approach for getting by defenders...It was more efficient for him than carrying the ball...LD exploited any amount of space. In a flat out foot race without the ball, I think LD was faster...he really had freakish speed.

Finishing is comparable, both are killers...maybe a slight edge to LD at a comparable age.

I'm a huge fan of both. Pulisic has the potential to have a more significant impact with the nats. I don't care about stats over a career...more to do with him having a bigger impact getting us farther in the WC...showing up big in the quarters or semis...that will do more to define where he ranks in the pantheon of US soccer than career stats...

Hoping he scores or sets up a handful of huge ass game changing goals for us down the road.

Goals and assists per minute played in one chart. (Donovan, Duece, Jozy and Pulisic)

Yup he writes Altidore Is clinically underrated and yet I see a negative slope after the hotness of his career start. We all love good Altidore, we know he has it in him, we bitch that he doesn't get good Altidore out enough... the numbers show it.

also, Dempsey escalates I imagine after JK puts in into the middle.

Dempsey's 7700 minute mark, assuming it's 90 per game (obviously) it's not, but he's been a starter..

is the 75 78 game mark.

That's when you start to see a positive change in derivative . EDIT change in derivative

Call it the second derivative.

40 to 45 game mark depending on how you calculate Jozy's minutes per game is where he started to have a positive change again. I just did the numbers on his career games, that time was somewhere in 2011, 2012

Doing the numbers on Donovan, it was in fact NOT Klinsmann

8500/90 to 11000/90

Donovan was generally a starter, you can maximize that minutes per game to 85 88 I imagine

those numbers are 94, 96 to 120.

from 2007 to 2009, early 2010

the up tick Dempsey had was in the 8500 9000 which again assuming 90 minutes per yields close to 1000, in fact the 2013 season.

also, as usual, fuck John Harkes

He's actually a pretty nice guy, not condoning anything else. Met him several times while Ian was at Wake Forest. Wouldn't mind him taking over for DCU if things go awry this season...

Oh, I'm judging him as a US Soccer fan, for just fucking both Wynalda's wife and our WC 1998 team. I'm not judging him overall as a human being for the totality of his life, but I don't need to. He for real fucked us in '98 and there's no reason to ever forgive that as a US Soccer fan.

Exile is too good for him.

I thought Steve Sampson fucked us for the '98 WC.

All these stats to back Donovan being the best ever do not state the fact that Donovan played every damn game we had internationally from like 2002-03 until JK got hired. There is a reason why we have the most players over 100 caps. Donovan made a killing playing against the minnows, January camps and friendlies. He took pks, took pretty much every free kick and corner kick. Who since Claudio Reyna retired could you say should have been the guy to take the free kicks and corner kicks besides Donovan. Wasn't exactly like we were developing Beckhams, Roberto Carlos left and right. So Donovan was ahead of his time I will admit that but if he played in his prime with this team. If he played today in his prime with his skill-set, I do not think we would be so easy to place him as GOAT. I think he would fit in well but he wouldn't be relied upon because we have Dempsey, Wood, Fabian, Pulisic, etc..His stats came out of necessity.

Steve Sampson wasn't a world-beater as a coach. He was also dealt this card:

The guy he called "captain for life" who was (until this) a locker room uniter, fucked the wife of one of the starting forwards, and sent shockwaves of shit through the team, two months before the WC.

That is a shit card to be dealt. How can you possibly blame Sampson over Harkes, there?

Well Wynalda tried to turn a hoe into a housewife. Remember the Regis experiment? Did Harkes put in him the starting XI? Granted Regis wasn't the bad but he just had no cohesion or desire.

Dude, Mr. Harkes, we had nothing back then, Regis or no Regis.

You shouldn't have fucked your teammate's wife. That's not his fault, that's yours.
