I would say that was a fair response. I know why Jones was in there for the chippy factor. I would not be surprised if that was the passing of the guard when Acosta came on for him.

Bradley isnt inconsistent.
He lacks quickness, speed, dribbling ability, and forward vision.
These things you can't fix.

Bradley is very inconsistent. Has been that way the last couple of years or so. He hasn't been one of our more reliable players.

You have some games were Bradley is assertive and his passing is on point and you have some matches where Bradley is passive and his passes do not reach their intended target often. Maybe you can blame Klinsmann for that because he never had a true role but in two matches one good, one not so good then maybe it wasn't all Klinsmann.

Keep JJ away from MB and he'll be good to above average. Pair him with someone like Lletget or Pulisic and you'll see wonderful things.

Leaving him to guess what JJ will or won't do at any given moment is basically a crap situation for him to deal with...paralyzing...stunts his ability to move up field. The best he can hope for is to just play behind and try to minimize the defensive damage...which also puts him in a lot of no win situations in transition.

Arena gave Jones a chance to state his case...he's not blind. It was probably...note to self...Wow, what a shit show...never again.

Freaking dump Jones and the "problem" with MB is solved...

That's been my mantra for years...JK overvalued Jones...he didn't have the balls to hold him accountable... Hopefully Arena fixes the glaring problem.

No thanks

Bradley can't even chest the ball down in the midfield, can't even make a move to get passed a defender 1 vs 1 (he's the guy that tries to kick the ball past you and then tries to catch up to it), and gets burnt by fast technical teams.

Its time to see the younger ballers!

At this point it's hard to argue. We should let Acosta get minutes at the Gold Cup and become the starter. Jones and Bradley are great to have from a depth standpoint, but having young, experienced legs in the midfield will help us make noise at the World Cup.

---Jozy-Wood---

--FJ--Pulisic--Nagbe--

----Acosta----

Villafaña-Brooks-Cameron-Yedlin

If we need to play a flat 4-4-2 like we did against Panama, you can still put Nagbe or Lleget in CM next to Acosta, and put Pulisic at LM/RM with Fabian.

What is the current depth chart in your opinion for Defensive Midfielder. We are low on this are we not?

Bradley
McCarty
Danny Williams
Alfredo Morales

None of those options inspire a lot of confidence in what is one of the most crucial positions in our team.

It's so funny to me that American fans blame everything else but Bradley's limited ability on his shortcomings.

Of course if you put better attacking players around Bradley, he will look better.

He won't be relied on to do as much, but that's anybody you put in the role lol.

If you put players better than Bradley in the role, everyone will look better smh.

Crying at the bold portion. He learned that from Donovan because that is Landon's only 1 v 1 move. Chest the ball down hard enough in front of you and chase after it, kick it far enough and chase after it, thigh it down the field far enough and chase after it, knee it down the field far enough then chase after it, or head it down far enough then chase after it. I have never seen Landon Donovan do a step over, never. He just kicks the ball forward and runs after it. But some of you claim he is God's gift to the US, if that is the case then maybe we are still a ways back because in my opinion all he is better at than Dempsey is taking pks, corner kicks, tracking back and his natural speed. Other than that Dempsey is the better player by far.

We are bringing in young ballers, but you need experience and leadership, preferably up the spine...critical at CB and Dmid.

We need to start to integrate younger players at those positions as well. Acosta has potential, but there is a noticeable gap between MB and the other options that aren't named Cameron at Dmid.

Most of it is between the ears and right in the middle of the chest. A lot of you guys don't understand or grossly undervalue what MB brings to the nats.

Imo, the younger Dmid options are almost equivalent to MB pre-Italy...give a few of those guys a couple years in Italy then we'll see what we have.

@chris, I agree on your point about Bradley. More importantly, great to see you refer to the team as "the nats." I had dropped it from my lexicon after the Expos moved to DC and stole the name but it's damn well time I start using it again. Thanks for the inspiration.

Bad news, qualifying for the 2018 World Cup seems irrelevant as it looks like the Chicago Fire will be winning the World Cup!!

@Ham, what's up with the Chicago media?!?

Hahahaha!!! The guy that asked that question probably writes in the food or arts section, as a few years ago the main outlets stopped caring when Hauptmann revoked their credentials for reporting that he is just a face for a holding company. The only outlet worth a damn is Guillermo Rivera and his twitter feed. Nobody in the media there cares. It's sad.

As for the Nats, we need to improve quickly, last night was just a rerun of the 2015 gold cup where we looked ready to allow a goal at any moment. Arena has had a few months in charge already and now he needs to make hard decisions. Hopefully for him, health of the players allows him to actually choose.

My guess for the final three home WCQ locations:

June vs T&T in Denver (anywhere else would be poorly thought out)
September vs Costa Rica in Kansas City
October vs Panama in DC (farewell to RFK and perhaps selfish wishful thinking on my part).

It would depend on who you ask. For instance you list McCarty....IMO he's far, far, far down the depth chart at CDM....
1) Cameron
2) Bradley
3) Jones
4) Williams/Morales
5) Acosta
6) Kitchen
7) McCarty
8) Trapp
9) Young Guns (Roldan, Canouse, Arce, De La Torre, Stanko)
