Kekuta Manneh's fortunes have fallen.

Jonathan Spector's header from yesterday was little short of spectacular.

Wow. It's so good that Jason Kreis' brain shuts down at the end of that clip.

Love Dax, but I just don't see him being part of the nats mix going forward, even as a back up...I'd rather see Roldan and/or Acosta in the middle for the GC...hopefully behind Saief at attacking mid....need to see what he's bringing.

I'm really hoping Miazga steps up big time.

I'm really trying to figure out what player(s) are going to stand out in this tournament, or even the friendly before vs Ghana. Do we go Howard throughout? Do we go a mix? Do we hand the reigns to one of the young guys? What will our defense look like without Brooks, Cameron, and Yedlin? Do any of the midfielders with no caps get any playing time (Saief, Rowe, Roldan, McNamara)? Same for Dom Dwyer, does he get that cap with Dempsey, Jozy, Wondo, Agudelo, Morris, and Sapong there? Honestly, I'm hoping we go a young guy besides big games for Howard. That young guy probably has to be Jesse Gonzalez. Defensively, it's tough, no right answer, honestly imo. As for cap tying guys, I hope we atleast cap tie Saief and Dwyer, at the very least. I like Saief, good player, and as a SKC fan, I love Dwyer. But that's how I feel, what do you guys think?

i hope we go young --we know what our our normal guys are about, here is the mix of players we should be picking from

DEFENDERS

Steve Birnbaum, Greg Garza , Matt Hedges , Eric Lichaj, Matt Miazga, Justin Morrow, Matt Polster, Jorge Villafaña

MIDFIELDERS

Paul Arriola, Dax McCarty, Tommy McNamara, Darlington Nagbe, Kellyn Acosta, Chris Pontius, Cristian Roldan, Kelyn Rowe, Kenny Saief, Wil Trapp, Gyasi Zardes

FORWARDS

Juan Agudelo, Dom Dwyer, Jordan Morris, C.J. Sapong

I am looking forward to seeing dwyer, I was a Agudelo fan but he just seems to not be international quality

In defense it would be great to see how hedges looks-and where miazga has progressed

In mid-not sure pontius is international quality, so look forward to seeing arriola and saief

I really hope we don't trot out a team with howard, bradley, dempsey and zusi

@stoked3 - I'm hoping "we go young" as well. IMO the players likely to advance out of the GC "B" team are going to be:
Dwyer - 4th striker position is up for grabs. I see a lot of similarities of Wood in Dwyer's game.
Saief - A lefty. A player who could be a backup for multiple positions this cycle. Versatile players are Indispensable during tournaments and someone who can play LM, RM, & LWB gives the manager options when it comes to formation and substitutions.
Arriola - I think he solidifies his place as the backup to Fabian @ RM. He won't be a starter this cycle, but could be that spark off the bench.
Garza - He's been showing well in MLS, and will be a solid backup & push Villafana.

Players who could help themselves and raise their rank in the depth chart are:
Hedges/Birnbaum/Miazga - It'll be hard to overtake Omar (Bruce has a lot of history with him), but if these guys get a chance they should close the gap.
Agudelo - We're still looking for a like for like backup to Jozy. I don't think Juan is an exact replacement, but with Morris struggling this season there is a slight chance for Juan to raise his profile.
Roldan - He's a wild card IMO. If everyone is healthy and available (Bradley, Acosta, Lletget, Williams, Hyndman) than I don't think he'd be getting a look. That said he's a decent player, who could raise his stock enough that he could be a guy used when/if injuries hit.
Lichaj - A player who's been on the fringes for a while, but another versatile guy who'd give the manager a solid backup for injury coverage.

Final 23. Interested to see what Saief brings to the table. Would not be surprised if he's only there for the friendly and group play and then gets switched out, but still should give us some base for evaluation. Interested also to see what Dwyer can do on this stage. I could see him as possibly an off the bench poacher option if we need a goal.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Atlanta United FC; 54/0), Bill Hamid (D.C. United; 2/0), Sean Johnson (New York City FC; 5/0)

DEFENDERS (8): Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City; 39/1), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca/MEX; 39/1), Matt Hedges (FC Dallas; 2/0), Eric Lichaj (Nottingham Forest/ENG; 11/0), Matt Miazga (Chelsea/ENG; 2/0), Justin Morrow (Toronto FC/CAN; 1/0), Jorge Villafaña (Santos Laguna, MEX; 6/0), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City; 47/5)

MIDFIELDERS (9): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas; 8/0), Paul Arriola (Club Tijuana/MEX; 5/2), Alejandro Bedoya (Philadelphia Union; 60/2), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana/MEX; 17/2), Dax McCarty (Chicago Fire; 6/0), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders FC; 0/0), Kelyn Rowe (New England Revolution; 0/0), Kenny Saief (Gent/BEL; 0/0), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy; 31/7)

FORWARDS (3): Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution; 23/3), Dom Dwyer (Sporting Kansas City; 0/0), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders FC; 15/2)

The 23 is about what I expected of Bruce. Was glad to see that Wondo didn't make the cut (I think we've finally see the end of him). Disappointed to see Zusi & McCarty, but not surprised. A little surprised that Garza didn't make it as he's been very good for Atlanta.
Looking forward to seeing what Miazga, Roldan, Saief, Arriola, & Dwyer can do with the minutes they'll get.

I'm sold, I really like this lineup. I think Besler could work well too, maybe Besler for Birnbaum and swap Besler and Hedges positionally.

I think we might see something like this:

Morris-Dwyer
Saief-Acosta-McCarty-Arriola
Villafana- Gonzo-Miazga - Lichaj
Guzan

Guzan as captain.

I see a 4-4-2 (seems to be the lineup when we play as favorites).
Possibly see Agudelo for Morris at some point and maybe Rolden/McCarty/Corona rotate games or at least get fairly equal looks the first few games (including friendlies)
