Did you just say that Villafaña has "no defensive awareness" and then cite Chandler as someone better than him?

According to everyone outside the U.S. troll jobs, Chandler is the most 4th highest quality defender we have outside of Cam, JAB, and Fab.

Actual evidence says otherwise.

@mmee are you aware that Chandler plays for a team in a league that none of the other backs outside of the top 3 are even rated for?

That's cool.... are you aware that he is a lousy defender for the US?

Chris Pontius is NOT an international caliber player, we've seen enough to know that....

Bummer about Saief's groin injury. I was looking forward to seeing him play.

I personally have written him off as a waste of time about 3 or 4 games ago. He's just another Brek shea or Edgar Castillo with no defensive awareness. I'd rather play Bornstein if we are going to choose a guy from Mexico at least he plays every game. Bruce is just trying things, I'd love for Lichaj to get a chance, like Fabian Johnson and Timmy Chandler they are better than Villafaña, who is rate #4 or 5 or 6 at the position as Garza and Beasley are also better.

If I ever see bornstein touch the field agin will personally go down to the us training facility and play outside back myself... He has to be one of the all time worst players to ever consistently wear the United States jersey

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but will be see how quickly that groin heals up at Gent. Wonder if he said yes to coming in for camp but quickly leave for Europe before the group stage games start. I think in 2013 the same thing was being set up for Shea as he was going to Stoke and then Gatt got hurt in the friendly.

Not sure how that benefits Saief. He needs time with the Nats to show he should be called up in September.

I used to crap all over Bornstein on this board but he has looked solid the past few seasons in Queretaro. I wouldn't mind at all if he received another chance to play for the MNT but if it was going to happen you would think that this Gold Cup would have been the opportunity.

I usually get excited for each national team match and look forward to seeing certain players step up. I will probably end up watching the Gold Cup but this might be the most unenthusiastic I have been about the national team in years. Really nobody I look forward to watching. Acosta is probably the one player I will be watching.

They should have this tournament every four years to make it more important. This years tournament is insignificant other than getting players caps that normally wouldn't get them. This is a glorified January Camp for the entire CONCACAF.

Would rather have a Copa PanAmerica every 4 years alongside the Euros. Thus make the Gold Cup occur 2 times every 4 years the years that there isn't a World Cup or Euro/CopaPanAmerica.

That is basically what they have been doing and every other one is insignificant. If it was every four years, we would not have to worry about the cash cow CONCACAF Cup. Every four years, the winner goes to the Confederations Cup. We basically win all the insignificant ones.
