I really hope with all these other options popping up at midfield we can go back to Fab at LB. I think its clear he's better than Villafana and he just hasnt looked right at LW the last few times out. Put him back to LB and put in one of the more attack minded guys at LW. It also opens up the 4-4-2 to have Nagbe/Pulisic on the wings, cutting in so Fab/Yedlin can make runs, with Acosta/MB as the CMs. Now we have other options like Sayef/Arriola to come off the bench at wing and can push Pulisic/Nagbe to the middle (alterntively if we played CP in the middle with MB or Acosta and started Sayef/Arriola that would be good with me too)

If Lichaj isn't playing for Bruce, can we talk about maybe a guy who's been a career championship player isn't good to be included in the top 3 RB on our team?

Yedlin was that level player, but clearly looked the better of the two.

I didn't rate Villafaña for his poor defending against Panama. His awareness level isn't Beasley or Garza- but yes he can cross a ball....

@msantoine is right on this one: Fabian at LB is the best option.

Both should have happened.

Regardless of the comments from the announcer, that would have been incredibly harsh to send off Villafana. Ridiculously so, in fact. It wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity, and was a bit soft as a penalty.

Nah i think Villafana is a clear and very good option at LB. Hes very open to attacking which I like. I think him and Fab have made a very good left side pairing. Keep everyone where they are at least until the November friendlies.

I think Lichaj sat because of fitness. Jeff Carlisle reported it on Twitter

Yup. Penalty and yellow was sufficient in that case. Ghana keeper's challenge was dangerous and merited red despite there being defensive cover.

If you guys prefer FJ at LB, I won't disagree. I don't know if it'll happen, but I'm hardly against it.

Villafana sort of reminds me of Edgar Castillo, makes you nervous to watch against physically strong wingers.

Yes, but I think he's more of a net-positive than Castillo.

Of the three who started and not in MPS, where Villafana, Arriola, and Corona. Of the three Corona had the best game but you could see him winded as the second half got started. While Arriola and Vila were in the Qualifiers you could also tell they had a break between camps.

that was a good game for us to really evaluate some player.

1. This is what I mentioned regarding villafana-he is better than castillo, better skill wise he is just a tad slow and small-so when we play teams like this he can get caught up field and not get back like yedlin can, I think he is fine as a starter for second tier games

2. Dwyer-for me he is in our top 3 pushes jozy to 4th

3. Dax solid-certainly not a starter but don't mind him getting call ups-frankly would love to see him with our A team once to sans bradley to get a look

4. Saief in his short mins looked comfortable out there

5. Thought acosta did fine-he will be a starter for yrs to come

6. Arriola was no where to be found really

I would mind seeing a starting team like this -I think Fabian needs to come back to lb

I bet bruce is planning on using Eric at RB he will use him

Wood---Dwyer

Pulisic
Nagbe ???
Cameron ( or acosta)

Fabian Brooks Hedges(Cameron) Yedlin

100% agree. Castillo may be better at attacking and worse at defense but the comparison works very well. I still think everyone will get a try before the World Cup. Villafaña needs another good game to get back his momentum that's what the knockout rounds will tell us.

I don't think we should read too much into this performance. He had a bad game but he's also in his offseason. He'll work his way into being match fit in the group stage. If he continues to no play well we have Lichaj, but he's in the same bout as far as acquiring match fitness.

I personally have written him off as a waste of time about 3 or 4 games ago. He's just another Brek shea or Edgar Castillo with no defensive awareness. I'd rather play Bornstein if we are going to choose a guy from Mexico at least he plays every game. Bruce is just trying things, I'd love for Lichaj to get a chance, like Fabian Johnson and Timmy Chandler they are better than Villafaña, who is rate #4 or 5 or 6 at the position as Garza and Beasley are also better.
