Disappointing sub. Bring Saief on for Rowe.

Dom Dwyer was born to play in Concacaf. I look forward to seeing him in San Pedro Sula in the fall. I hope he doesnt melt like Chandler.

Great question. To be investigated after the game. Given SKC's success I would assume so but data to come.

That would help him. Crappy fields, humidity, bad officials.

Good observation from Twellman. That nice cross came off Morris' right foot.

You're right. I just rewound the DVR and the cross clearly came off of Morris' left foot so it's not surprising that it was quality. I have no idea what Twellman was talking about. I just took him at his word.

Serious question. After a week of training and competing head-to-head I can't wrap my head around what would give Zusi an edge over Lichaj. I understand the appeal of Zusi compared to a converted CB like Orozco Fiscal but compared to Lichaj, somebody enlighten me.

Zusi's Strengths: Pace & Crossing.

Lichaj also has pace, does Zusi offer more? If so it's not significant. I'm calling this a wash.

Lichaj's crossing is pretty good. I'll give the edge to Zusi but let's call it a medium sized advantage for Zusi.

1v1 Defending: Huge advantage for Lichaj

Defensive Positioning: Huge advantage for Lichaj.

Any advantage that Zusi offers over Lichaj is relatively small and the tradeoffs at the defensive end of the field are significant. I can't rationalize why he would get the nod other than familiarity and some BS like "Zusi is a winner."

Zusi has luxurious hair? Villafana gave away the penalty and the free kick for the goal too, plenty of questions still at both left and right back in this 23.

Overall good show. Dom Dwyer looks legit. Some good stuff from the midfield of Dax and Acosta

I'm also over Zardes. That said the US was trying to kill the game with possession in the 91 minute when Acosta eventually turned the ball over and Ghana pushed for a break. In that moment Zardes completely hauled ass to get back. Sure his legs were fresh as a late sub but the effort was there and I applaud him for giving it his all.

The problem I have with Zardes is that we've seen a lot of him and I think he's a mediocre player. For us to make a run I think we need better than mediocre players. A lot of the guys that Zardes is fighting for playing time are unproven and very well might end up even less mediocre than Zardes but given that they are relatively unknown, at least from a MNT perspective, I'd much rather role the dice with them than Zardes.

Take Aways:
Dwyer looked good for a first timer. Was active and pressured the Ghana defenders both offensively and defensively. Will see if he can keep it rolling and lock up one of the remaining roster spots.
Acosta didn't look as comfortable in this match as he did when partnered with Bradley. Not sure if it was lack of chemistry w/ McCarty or just a bad showing. Something to keep an eye on during the GC.
Corona did well. It's been a while since I've seen him play. Looked good in possession, passing was good, worked hard defensively.
Zusi still looks at a loss to me. Always seems to loose track of his mark, and often out of position.
Zardes still appears to be knocking the rust off from his injury. If he doesn't do it soon he'll be out of contention as others step forward...Arriola, Gooch, Saief, Green.
Arriola didn't seen to be involved much today. A couple nice plays, but overall quit. The GC is his chance to shine....if he doesn't take it he could be overtaken.

Disappointed we didn't get more of a look at Saief or Lichaj.

Fun game. A lot of things to think about:

1) Dom Dwyer is a very active striker and gets in between CBs well, passes pretty well. Finishing was significantly off.
2) Taylor Twellman is VERY annoying.
3) Corona and Rowe had good games, Arriola was a big letdown in an important game that would dictate whether he will be in the WC plans.
4) Alright that's it, I know when to quit on a player, and now is it. Eric Lichaj won't be a part of Arena's plans. Zusi is over Lichaj at RB, Villafana is over Lichaj at LB, and the nail in the coffin, when Villafana came off injured it was shown that Matt Besler is higher in the food chain than Lichaj at LB.
