Landon Donovan and Charlie Davis. USA vs Brazil in 2009 Confederations Cup.

Great Goal put us up 2-0. Thought we were going to win our first major tourney. Well, it didn't pan out that way but still one of my all time favorite goals.

Beasley's goal that was not to be against Italy in 06.

I just went back and watched the FIFA highlights of that game and in a 2:30 segment they decided to exclude Beasley's goal! That was a huge moment.

@skangles- I had that number two as well. I left an imprint about 5 feet in the air kicking the wall as if it were the ref. Hosed.

Altidore post-up, spin-move against Spain for sure. I was giddy, truly felt like we just punched Goliath square in the nose

There have been a number of fantastic/important goals over the years. Some have had major implications for US Soccer....

1) Caligiuri - '89 goal against T&T (WCQ)...Into WC finals for first time in generations.
2) Donovan - '02 goal against Mexico (WC)...Into round of 8.
3) Donovan - '10 goal against Algeria (WC)...Advancement out of group.
4) Jozy - '09 goal against Spain (CC)...Into a international final.
5) Dempsey & Brooks - '14 Goals against Ghana. Finally beat them.

Others were just so beautiful (strike and/or build up) that they stand out:
1) McBride - '02 against Portugal....diving header that won the game.
2) Feilhaber - '07 against Mexico...volley for the win.
3) Jones - '14 against Portugal...screamer from outside the box.
4) Fabian - '14 against Turkey....Overlapping run with a clinical finish.
5) Donovan - '10 against Slovenia....roofed it early in 2nd half back into the game
6) Wynalda - '94 against Switzerland - Free Kick from distance.

Heart Brakers:
1) Edu - '10 against Slovenia - Foul which disallowed the winning goal.
2) Beasley/McBride - '06 goals against Italy disallowed.
3) Donovan - '02 goal-line saves against Germany (Kahn save/Frings handball)
4) Marquez - '16 goal to break the streak against Mexico.

1 and 2 are no-brainers for me:

1. Shot heard round the world
2. Lando/Algeria. Pretty emotional.
3. I'll add one that no one else has mentioned, but it's way up there IMO just for the sheer shock of it - Ernie Stewart against Colombia in '94. Some people were picking Colombia to win it all and we beat them with a bunch of scrubs.
4. Yeah I like the McBride header against Portugal. Same thing - we beat a team that many people were picking to win it all so it was such a shock to beat them (actually spank them).

And I always talk about this one, and breaking your no-negativity rule (yeah, nice try dude) - I still love Agoos own goal against Portugal. I still crack up to this day about it.

It was Beasley who scored McBride was called for obstruction for blocking the keeper's view. McBride flicks his heel but he doesn't touch it.

Around 5:40 in this clip. It's difficult to determine whether or not McBride touches it in this video but the conversation post game was all about obstruction.

Feilhaber vs Mexico as I was in the stadium for that.

I can also recall acting like a maniac when I thought Beasley had scored against Italy in '06, only for the ref and linesman to rule it out.

The Bob Wood dummy to Morris back to Wood for the smash winner vs Holland was also a quality goal of recent vintage.

I missed your post the first time around. I was about to bring up Feilhaber against Mexico as I didn't think it had been mentioned. That plus the Beasley no goal that I should have given you credit for bringing up.

A couple of memorable goals that don't belong on the list but that are goals I'll never forget are:

1) Dempsey's tap in off of the Altidore deflection in the snow game.

2) Dempsey's winner in Genoa.

3) Teenage Agudelo against Argentina

4) Grown Ass Man bursting on to the scene with a Hat Trick in 17 minutes against Panama. Side note, if you want to see just how much better Concacaf is today compared to 2004 check out the highlights of that game.

Slightly off topic, a little love for the ladies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBosyOJ3PIY

Goal is at the 2:30 mark. A ludicrous goal to seal a 1st half hat-trick on the biggest of stages.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
